Different track

I am a beginner at Garden Railroads. I have Bachman track and recently bought LGB track to use in my layout, how do I connect the two tracks?

I would suggest you pose this question over on the Gardern Railway general forum. I do know that the Bachmann G track I have is steel and will rust very fast out doors. I do not think I would waste any effort in trying to use it in an outdoor enviroment. I suppose it might be OK indoors, but it is not very rugged like the LGB or Aristocraft stuff…

heres a link for the main board. You’ll find G scale there

I thought true garden RR’s used battery packs in the locos and RC contollers making rusty tracks of little concern.

If you are using the Bachmann track outside, forget it. It will rust in no time flat. It isn’t even very good for indoors. I’d get rid of it or use it for display purposes. Stick with LGB or Aristo-Craft track as these brands, although more costly, are ruggedly built and reliable. Aristo-Craft track comes in both brass and stainless steel. Check out Ridge Road Station or St. Aubins for the track as their stock and prices are great.

The two are not compatible they will not connect. Unfortunately the Bachmann track is not rugged enough for outdoors (I don’t even use it indoors). I know it is expensive but the best bet is to just buy LGB track for the whole layout.

Depends how much $$$$$ you have. At least half of the people I know that have outdoor layouts run on track power.

AristoCraft and USA Trains also make track comparable in quality to LGB. I don’t think that you can go wrong with any of these.

As others have already said, Bachmann track is worthless for outdoor use, and not even very suitable for indoors except to put display models onto. It is hollow and cannot be connected to any other brand.

Every year at this time, AristoCraft has a big sale on their track, so now is a good time to get what you need.

While Aristocraft track is a BIG improvement over the Bachmann, I don’t like it. In fact, while making up the Christmas tree layout this year I got mad at a few Aristocraft pieces I had purchased (to save a few bucks) and threw them in the garbage. Later I had second thoughts and went and dug them out (swap meet material), but the bottom line is I won’t buy Aristocraft anymore. The rails pull out from the spike plates (toward the top) entirely too easy.

That’s strange, I’ve put down several hundred feet of Aristo track and have never had that heppen.
