Digitrax DCS-100 Function Upgrade

I have had my Digitrax Super Chief set (DCS-100 Command Station) for almost ten years. It was limited to eight (8) functions. Digitrax will upgrade older DCS-100 from 8 to 12 functions for $35 including shipping back to you. I don’t even use eight functions but I decided to send my DT-400R in for repair as it made one too many trips to the canyon!!! (I don’t even use the DT-400 for programing as I use Decoder Pro, but wnated the extra radio throttle back in operation.) Digitrax called today informing me the upgrade and repairs were completed and they were shipping the units back. (Took about two weeks.)

GREAT! I now have four more functions…for what I’m not sure, but I have them none the less.

I am sharing this information as you can sometimes get a good buy on an older DCS-100 on Ebay or at a train show. Just wanted to let everyone know that you can make the unit current for $35. The upgrade is for the DCS-100 only and not the DB-150. Information on the upgrades are available on the Digitrax web site.

Since you are already using Decoder Pro, if you use the on screen throttle you will actually have access to functions up through F28(if it is a recent version of Decoder Pro).

just a quick note on the DCS100 upgrade, you don’t end up with the same features as the new type. the new type have 7 screw terminals on the front wheras the old type have the 6 speaker type quick fit arrangement. what you don’t get is the abillity to set up ‘brake on DC’.

Actually, the DCS100 has a DCC brake section generator option, which is a broadcast stop DCC signal, not Brake on DC. The older DCS100’s also have this feature. The seventh terminal is just a ground terminal, it takes the place of the green wire on the older units.
