I just got the New sound bug and I am using it as an Under the table
sound unit.I am using it in desiel mode. I am not to happy with it so
far. The first speed notch is almost like you just turn on the sound.
It goes from an idel to the first speed but it dosen’t ease into the
sound…it just gets faster.
Then I wanted brake squal…this brake squal is very short,about 1-2
seconds. Not very prototypical to me.
And last Programing…I am using a Lenz -100 I can’t get it to program
on the main at all. The only way to set ANY CV is by programing it on a
Program track. And then only some CV s’ wil program. Nothing Higher
than about CV 60 will program. I can adjust Volumes’ and the Address
but thats about it. I wanted to change the speed notching to manual and
all I get fram most CVs’ is Error2 message. Some CVs’ will program but
not most. All I get is Error 2. (this means it can’t find a decoder )
This is crazy…I hope if I get it to work right maybe I can download
some sounds I like.

I have no direct experience with the SoundBug, but for SFX sound decoders in general:
- Are you using the proper speaker(s)? Digitrax specifies a 32-ohm impedance, and if you use an 8 ohm speaker at anything but the lowest volume setting you will overdrive the output and cause distortion. Two 8-ohm speakers in parallel is even worse, making the effective impedance only four ohms. Better to put them in series, and be sure you keep them in phase.
- Do you have the proper speaker(s) connected (see above) when you try to program the SoundBug? It performs the same function re programming as the motor does on a “conventional” decoder. That is, it provides a load so the command station can “see” the decoder.

I have already had the Over drive problem…I now have 4 8ohm Speakers wired correctly. When you place an ohm meter on the speaker terminal it is about 30 ohms. The whole thing dosen’t sound to bad just can’t program.
Also I have a post on the Digitral sound yahoo page with no replies.
