The Information Technology folks have been conducting some work on the forum software of late. In the process, many who have posted enough to earn five stars are now shown as having no posts.
Anyone know why that is happening?
No, but it has happened to me…I sent a note to Jeff, and he said this isn’t the first instance, and the admins know about it.
I am a so-called “Ultimate” contributor, but it wouldn’t bother me in the least if these distinctions were eliminated. What useful purpose do they serve?
No! No! You can’t take away my STARS!
That’s how everyone knows I’m a man among men, a sage, that I have no life since I can spend all my time posting on the forum!

FWIW, my post count has dropped by over 50 in the last couple of weeks, more disconcerting than anything else. The change has piqued my curiosity a bit.

All mine are gone, too. That’s fine - as long as they leave my platypus alone.
But it the mods want to yell at me for stirring a pot on here, I’ll just claim that I didn’t know any better. See? No stars! I’m just a noob!
I kinda like what the mods of a local board I’m on have done. Instead of stars, or diamonds, or whatever, they’ve assigned names. I’m a “Hero Member…”
If this software is capable, it might be fun to work one’s way up the ladder, railroad-wise (brakeman, conductor, fireman, engineer, trainmaster, etc). Of course, there might be dissention if one reached a level one didn’t care for the name of… (ie, some folks might not have a high regard for some positions, especially management, on the railroad).
Things could be worse.
I can no longer start new threads or reply to existing threads on the Yahoo Groups forums.

I’m on a car racing forum that has a system like that. You start out as rookie, and work you’re way all the way to the top, which is where I am. The top category is called *Too much free time". [(-D]

Not the first time I have had to start all over, most likely not the last time either.
Guess this is the result of picking on the moderators pets?
Some of the other forums I participate in simply show the number of posts you’ve made. Others assign ‘ranks’ as mentioned above.
IT folks here needs to get their act together.
