Dissapointed with CARM Convention registration process :(

The Canadian Association of Railway Modellers is organizing a convention and some tours. Well, that’s great, but I wish whoever organized gave some thought of better communication. I’ve sent countless emails (from multiple addresses) about the convention and registering, and haven’t received any reply. And I did check spam filters.

The only option they offer is to send the payment and description of events is not very complete.

This, they claim, is the biggest such event in 20 years, you’d expect the organizers to be more responsive, even if they only provided a single email address for communications.

Hmm…I feel your pain, but I dont think that you will get much help around here…

Yeah, it is just that good old regular train shows in here, that are happening twice a month, are organized a lot better. People who organize them reply to emails within a day and they also provide phone numbers to contact them.

Is this the email address you used, convention_info@caorm.org ? Did you add the _ between convention_info? I highly doubt that a very large Canadian club like the CARM is ignoring you. Their website very clearly states the show schedule, lodging, clinics etc. What else do you need?

I am not saying they are ignoring ME. But no phone number contact and email address that is not monitored isn’t what I’d expect from them. Like I said, I sent multiple emails, from multiple computers and servers (I am in computer industry) to avoid chance of spam block. And still no reply.

Take any train show in ontario and there is always a phone number to contact them.

But hey, it is CARM’s event, ultimately they are free to organize and communicate about in whatever form they want. Just as long as they then don’t start complaining that hobby is dying and there is nothing they can do

Do they have a convention website? I’ve seen a number of shows that either have no website, or extremely poor ones. Today a good looking convention site is essential. If they don’t have at least a half-way decent web site, I don’t even feel like I can list them on my calendar of events.

Best!

Yes, http://www.caorm.org/2008%20Convention/Pages/home.html It shows everything you could possible want information on the convention, minus a phone number.[%-)]
