Diversified Hobby Shops?

I see on ebay “Superior Carpet & Hobby”. Here in the Twin Cities there is a place that sells Lionel trains and John Deere lawn equipment, I think its Osseo Sport and Trains. What hobby shops do you know of that sell other stuff?

In Eniskillin, Northern Ireland theres a place that sells lamps and trains.

Ribbons and Rails in Sidney, Montana

They sell cloth, ribbons, sewing, and crafts upstairs and the trains are downstairs. I believe they have three operating layouts N, HO, and O. Their O gauge set up is well worth seeing. The owner and I are fellow Milwaukee Road fans.

In Dracut, MA, there is a handgun/train store. I can’t remember the name of it, as I don’t go there very often. The prices are outrageously high, and the owner has an annoying little mop dog that follows customers around until they end up stepping on it.

I’ll take that 6464-475 B&M boxcar, some FasTrack, that nice little Glock, and a box of bullets…

In Culpeper, Va there is the MinuteMan MiniMall this is an antique “mall” which has a hobby store in the corner.

Not Trains related, but the Ski Barn by me has gotten into selling patio furniture the last few years.

Down here in West Palm Beach there is a Christmas items store near the airport that also sells Lionel trains but mainly in the Christmas theme; Polar Express, Rudolf boxcar, Santa handcar, some O gauge tubular track and they have an operating Lionel layout.

Care to guess where THE TRAIN SHOP at BRENTWOOD ANTIQUES is located within?

I know of 2 shops that are bikes and trains. In the winter few people are intersted in buying bicycles, so they sell trains. Opposite in the summer.

What!! bikes and trains??? insanity!!

Scott

It’s no joke. The place is called the “Bike and Choo Choo connection.” They also sell slot car stuff.

We have a fishing supply store that also sells trains lol

Several places. Tom’s in Raleigh has a gift shop and train store. One in Portsmouth has art supplies and trains.

Genesee Hardware in Batavia, NY. It’s a hardware store. There was a Schwinn Bike shop around the corner from this store - Adam Miller Toy & Bicycle - that carried trains for several years.

A distant cousin of mine in Utica, NY did the bikes & trains too… Endres Cycle Shop from ~ 1940’s to ~ 1970’s. They got more into lawn & garden, & snowmobiles, when they moved to New Hartford. The last time I was in there they were a John Deere / Ski-Doo shop, no bikes, no trains.

I got a lot of my trains as a youngster at ABC Sport Shop in Rochester, NY. Sporting goods shop - skates, baseball, hockey, etc.

Leif’s Sales & Service in Honeoye Falls/Bloomfield/Mendon, NY. It’s a chain saw / lawn & garden / small engine shop. “Pop’s” in Perry, NY was a similar setup.

T&D Trophies - Rochester / Henrietta, NY. Well, it’s a trophy shop.

When I was growing up in Chicago there was an advertiser in Model Railroader called Pilot Model Shop. It was in an old narrow building. On one side it sold trains, floor to ceiling, on the other side of the center aisle it sold paint, interior, exterior, varnish and all kinds of roller blinds. My mom and dad shopped there and I got to look at the trains while they picked out the paint for the living room.

In Long Island, NY, there is a place called Kross Hardware that sells hardware in the front and toy trains in the back.

In Staten Island, NY, there is a place called Scagg’s Bait and Tackle that sells fishing supplies and toy tranis.

Potomac Trading Post (a/k/a) Lionel Buy and Sell, Kensington, Maryland sells trains and guns.

Engine House Hobbies, Gaithersburg, Maryland, started out as Postal Pros by the original proprietors. Their main business was shipping your parcels and packages while selling trains on the side.

Miller’s in Mamaroneck, NY: This is a specialty high-end toy store that sells baby products and has a full-service bike shop. Is listed as a “Lionel authorized dealer and service center” but does not have an “on-site” repair person.

Robbies Hobbies has trains and other hobbies, a sign shop, and they do picture framing too. Growing up, Straders Hardware in Lancaster sold Radio Control Planes.

Ran across a combintation train, RC, gun, and pawn shop a few weeks ago not too fay east of here. Seemed like a very sensible combination to me.
