Division Point Canadian Steam

Has there been any reviews on Division Points HO Canadian Steam Engines. So far they have produced a CPR 4-6-2 and a CPR 2-8-2. As I am interested in both of these I wonder if any reviews have been made on their products.

I found some very limited information of the Brass Trains site, no reivew just a listing.

I don’t recall seeing any reviews, Don, but Division Point also offered some CNR locos.
A friend brought this CNR J-7-c to run (for the first time) on my layout, and it has to be one of the most impressive HO steam locos that I’ve ever seen.

The detail and paint is immaculate, and the operating doors, roof hatches, etc. are well-done. However, what impressed me most was the way it ran. He had just received it and, other than for a quick look, it hadn’t been out of its box, much less run.
In my opinion, this loco has to be one of the nicest running locos I’ve ever run, steam or diesel. It ran flawlessly at a crawl, with no hesitation, hitch in the rods or running gear whatsoever. There was almost no noise and absolutely no slop in the rods or valve gear. Watching that trailing truck move over otherwise imperceptible variations in the track was a joy to behold. It move in a manner more often associated with larger scale models or even a real locomotive - the word “ponderously” comes to mind.

On the other hand, I was less impressed by this CNR Northern (as evidenced by the fact that I don’t have a better photo of it). [(-D]

I didn’t think that the detail was as well-done and it was a somewhat balky runner, at least for what was its first time under power. It also wasn’t too fond of my 34" radius curves, with lead and trailing trucks prone to derailment. That may be due to the greater detailing and the fact that some clearances are closer to scale, as I’ve run larger brass steam (belon

Wayne, was the Northern also a Division Point product?

I received the Division Point CPR 2-8-2 and all I can say is wow…

The detail level makes most of my other engines look plain.

This is the quietest engine I have ever seen, the faintest noise imaginable, the detail level of the interior of the cab is just unbelievable, the levers, valves, gauges and shut offs shown in the finest detail level…

I certainly am going to try to find one of the CPR G3 4-6-2’s if I can.

Frankly it is unbelievable that their products have not been reviewed somewhere. After visiting their website and seeing just how many locomotives they have produced in just seems that they would be better known.
