DIY-Workin' on the railroad and the Pink Floyd t-shirt

I was watching the latest episode of Workin’ on the Railroad. They were doing an expose of an operating session of Stephen and Cinthia Priest’s Santa Fe layout. One of the operators kept folding his arms which looked like he was trying to cover what was written on his t-shirt. In fact, the image on his shirt was “fogged out” on purpose (like what you see on COPs when they mask a persons face or license plate). In one of the shots, I caught a glimpse of what was on this guys shirt; it appeard to be a Pink Floyd, “Dark Side of the Moon” t-shirt.

Why would something like that be a no-no to show on a model train video?

There could be copyright issues. Or just some attorney said “pixellate it” to avoid problems later.

Personally, I’ve done lots of railroading with Pink Floyd in the background. “Wish You Were Here” brings back lots of memories – well, more or less – of the Seventies.

I would bet that that particular image has been copywritten.

Cynthia Priest is an absolute babe AND she likes running trains! Stephen Priest is one lucky guy! Jim

It used to be that if you wore it on TV, it didn’t matter. Now, the producers don’t want to look like they are even remotely promoting anything other than their project. Even those guys on Mythbusters forget to wear plain or Mythbuster related shirts and they’ve been in the business for years. It’s pretty annoying that they fog over what we already know is there. It is also very annoying that shows still chyron stuff into the bottom right corner where the broadcaster puts that stupid logo crap. That and they roll the credits so fast, why bother having them? Now the thing is to put ads at the bottom of the screen, again covering guest starring credits at the shows opening. At this rate, it will be way too much effort just to watch anything on the tube. I’ve got to get some trains running soon or I’ll go Kah-way-zee!

Maybe the show thought that Pink Floyd wasn’t railroad related?..LOL…that does seem strange…I mean who here over the age of lets say 30 or 40 has never seen a pink floyd dark side of the moon t-shirt?..man!..I wore out the vinyl on that album!..had a couple of their eight tracks too!..chuck

“Eight tracks” is not the lead into a busy passenger terminal either!

WAIT WAIT WAIT…IF you remember from “wish you were here” the track have a cigar…“They call it riding the gravy TRAIN”.so there Pink Floyd is train related.

Interesting that a post mentioning Pink Floyd came up tonight. I just got through playing Wish You were Hear, Brain Damage, Time and Tull’s Locomotive Breath for my daughter’s friends. Several of them are classic rock fans and whenever they come over always ask if I’ll get out my guitar and play some Pink Floyd. My family gave me an awesome Ibanez for father’s day this year so I jump at any chance to play it. Bruce

As it so happens, I am currently listening to David Gilmour’s “On An Island” as I spend some time checking various railroad-oriented sites. Small world!
