Do`se Anyone Know???

Dose anyone Know?. Whether a "Lenz Walk Around" controller will work with a "Bachmann E-Z command unit", Ive asked Bachmann but they just keep ignoring my “Emails”
to them.
I own one of these, and when running my trains I loose my Locos among the rolling stock in the Fiddle Yards, I find them again when theres a hell of a
crash and a scatter of said rolling stock.
I dont much like this fixed position controlling style, I would rather follow the Loco or train around and drive it properly.
If some one from Bachmanns reading this Id certainly appreciate an answer,
or if any of you chaps can help i`d really appreciate the help.

regards,
John.

Generally speaking, a throttle (hand held) from one maufacturer cannot be used with another manufacturer’s system. (There are exceptions - such as the Atlas system, which I believe is built by Lenz for the North American market.)

Depending on the size of your layout, you may want to relocate you Bachmann controller to the yard, if that is where you use it the most…

I believe the Bachmann E-Z Command system is made by Lenz, so a Lenz controller should work just fine with it. Instead of trying to find out from Bachmann, why don’t you just connect the Lenz controller to the Bachmann system and see if it works? It shouldn’t harm either component to connect them if they are not compatible.

You know, if you watch the DVD that comes with the Bachmann system it alludes to how to make it a hand held unit.

I think the conversion set me back maybe 2 or 3 dollars.

What do the plugs look like for the Bachmann system? The Lenz controllers use a 5-pin DIN connector. If you can’t plug it in directly, then you should be wary of building “adapters” without first checking to see if you’re going to smoke something.

I found this.

Last question, bottom of the page.

The Xpressnet uses 4 wires to connect the system together. To get a Lenz handheld controller to connect you may need a Lenz LA152, http://www.lenz.com/products/xpressnet/index.htm

No guarantees but it looks like it could work.

If you do get some Lenz things I’d recommend the LH90 Cab, it’s a knob throttle and a forward neutral reverse switch really nice.

email me if ya want

I don’t know except to say be very carefull about hooking up dissimlar equipment. You could cause a problem you don’t want. The best is to ask at a friendly local train shop. Most of them are glad to help. Good luck! tfox65
