Back when I first designed my layout, I intended for it to be “steam era only”, but as every model railroader knows, sooner or later your going to give in a add a few diesels and modern rolling stock. Anyway. I put in a hobo camp in a spot that was out of the way near a railroad junk pile. It consists of a shack like structure made of corrugated tin and so forth with a wise old hobo sitting inside on a crate talking to a couple of other hobos that are standing around a camp fire outside as if they’re listening to him tell of his adventures on the rails. I also have a hobo sitting inside the door of one of my old time box cars waving to who ever sees him.
sure do!![:D] dad(65) and i(40) have two layouts, HO switching layout and the "N"empire. dad put hobo camps on both. this is a pic of the HO hodo camp.
i’ve got a stockcar with 5 hobo’s in it two are sleeping two are sitting in the door with their legs hanging out, and the fifth is sitting on a barrel playing a guitar . and a boxcar with a hobo laying on top with on leg crossed over the other.
Now brother Billba, what good are those hoboes doing you if they’re not on your layout ?. I’m going to write Washington and see if they’ll pass a law about things like that… ([:p])
hey tracklayer. i model ho scale. no layout currently, i had to take it down to accomodate the baby. which by the way was a pretty good trade. don’t know what brand my hobo’s are. they’re old though. i grabed them at a local show a couple years ago out of a grab bin, and i had to clean them up and repaint them when i got them home.
