I Did have a UP SD90MAC But I sold it to a Friend Because Im only collecting BNSF models. Plus I felt sorry for him because he only had one UP SD90MAC in the first place,so now he has 2 on his layout.
I voted No but then since I model southeastern railroads, I hadn’t bought any UP before either.
I’ve never gone out of my way to buy UP items.
I do have some & they are all second hand I bought of a UP fanatic I have as a friend.

I guess if it’s going to cost me more for a U.P. freight car than another road, it would be easy for me to pass by UNION PACIFIC. I don’t need U.P. to do what I want in the hobby, even though Northern Pacific interchanged with U.P. I don’t have any U.P. and I’m uncertain why that is, as it wasn’t an issue previous to U.P.'s management going berserk!
I never had any UP models in the first place, and probably won’t anyways now.
They were an archrival of all of my favorite lines, anyways.
I have very little UP rolling stock, not because I dislike UP, but because my fictional Rio Grande California Extension, which is set in the 1940’s, would be far more likely to use CB&Q and MP for its Midwest connections, and SP, WP and even that ol’ debbil Santa Fe for its West Coast interchanges. In the period I model, UP heads north to Seattle and south to Los Angeles, and not into Northern California (except for all of those PFE reefers) except as a connection to SP in Ogden. Even when I was a kid, I didn’t see much UP rolling stock on the Donner Pass line, it was either SP or a lot of everyone else (especially Pennsy and NYC). So on my fictional Rio Grande California Extension, you’ll see a lot of CB&Q and subs FW&D and C&S, and quite a bit of MP. Along with a lot of eastern roads and some Northwest transcons. But UP just doesn’t fit into the picture that much. Never did, in fact, even BEFORE Dec 25th.

No, but I don’t model UP. I am planning on having some UP SD40-2’s, SD40T-2’s, SD70M’s, and C44ACCTE’s on the layout, but I haven’t gotten any yet.
I simply cannot fathom what UP’s seeking licensing agreements with model manufacturers has to do with what I purchase or what I model. I think I was about six years old when I decided there was no purpose served in needing to strike out at something I did not like, or to seek revenge for some real or imagined wrong. If someone has an issue with UP, might I suggest you write to them directly and let them know you will not be purchasing models of UP equipment. Be certain you inform them of the substantial impact this will have on their balance sheet. Tell them if they do not mend their ways you will instigate a hostile takeover of the entire railroad. That should put the fear of God into them.

I have one UP SW, and a GP9. I have not bought any new UP stuff since their licensing (sp?) requirement, and probably never will again. Besdies, they swallowed up Western Pacific.
Anyone want to buy a UP Sw and GP9?
I have a few UP locomotives, and I probably will by more, but, that’s because I don’t care about paint scheme at the moment.

Of course I still buy UP stuff, Why wouldn"t I?, I never stopped buying UP models, and don"t plan to stop, I hope we aren"t sliding back to that same old childish, bash UP, stuff that was so prevalant a few month"s back. I model 1/87th, UP is 1/1 , with the only connection being the same color paint. I rest my case.

Well I don’t model UP, must be trying to screw-up the poll (exit polls)
i haven’t bought anything UP before this all happened, i did buy a MP hopper with the UP herald on it. the price was the same as the other hopper i bought so i wasn’t complaining. i don’t think i’ll buy any UP loco brand new or what not but maybe at the next show i might be able to find a loco. although i plan to model mainly BNSF/BN power along with NS i do want a UP loco or 2 right now as that is what i see every day.
i know i won’t buy a new UP loco or anything new out of Walthers or something at the prices but at a show maybe yes.
Well, I can’t really stop buying UP, since I never started. I grew up by the CNW, though, and every once and a while I feel the urge to buy some of their equipment, but I’ve decided that no matter how much I may dislike UP it’s not going to stop me.
I don’t let petty politics and greed get in the way of what I buy. I live in a town serviced by both UP and BNSF. I railfan both lines equally. But I buy more UP (and fallen flag roads) than BNSF easily. Because I like to weather rolling stock… and the UP cars being older tend to be nastier looking. BNSF cars are too new - and therefore too clean for me. (Yes, I know about the oxide red 2-bay cement hopers, but that’s an exception).
I’ve bought the fixings to make a bunch of PFE steel reefers a few weeks ago.
PFE is co-owned by UP. So I guess thats yes.
It sucks what they did, but I don’t hold any major grudge against them.
This stuff never ceases to amaze me from supposedly sensible adults.

I voted for Ralph Nader[:o)]
And someone get Trackster a sedative. [:D]
Since my primary rr is UP, I still buy UP rolling stock and Locos. The lawsuit does not concern me, since I’m well aware of licensing agreements with John Deere, Harley-Davidson, etc. Something UP should have probably done 30 years ago.
By the way mloik, I would take your UP SW and GP9 off your hands for the right price!
An express box car or two for my mail trains
A freight car or two here and there, if it is the correct era.
Since I model Eastern Roads, I do not buy the locomotives, cabooses or passenger cars. I suppose that a baggage car or two might not be inappropriate for my mail trains, but I have never bought one.
The GF likes UP nineteenth century stuff, but has not bought any lately. She decided she liked the D&RGW Atlas mogul, over the UP (did Atlas even sell it in UP? I forget, but she took one look at the Rio Grande and wanted that one. This made the man at MBK happy, because she also had to buy some Overtons in Rio Grande to go with it).
But, since CSX is likely to follow suit, and that this includes its component roads, I will wind up paying licence fees, indirectly.
