Does Amtrak have names for NEC Trains?

For Trains in the NEC such as the regional NYC to Washington trains do they have names? I remember in a magizine once they refered to on of these trains as THE MAYFLOWER or something like that?

Yes they do, but some, like the Acela, NE direct, and clockers, refer to a product line and not an individual schedule. Check www.amtrak.com and go to the schedules for the NEC to get the names.

Also NJT which operates on part of the NEC in Philadelphia, and NJ, has names for some of it’s trains too. The one that comes around my way through North Phila Station is called The Diesel Express.

The NEC trains have names such as Acela Expresses, Metroliners, and Regionals. Also trains such as the Carolinian, the Crescent, the Cardinal, the Silver Meteor, the Silver Star, and the Palmetto keep their names while they run on the Northeast Corridor.
