Does anybody know of anyone that currently makes, or made, a HO model of UP’s 4-12-2?

Challenger Imports Imported some a few years back. You can probably still find some at train shows and such.

Better start your Piggy Bank early. They are BIG bucks, and since they require more than 22"" radius curves & #6 switches, the Mass Producer’s won’t touch it.
I wish somebody made UP 4-12-2’s, but like Don said, they’d require some BIG curves.
Saw one on E-Bay several months back.
Made of Brass for the cost of Gold!
I think it was Mike Brock that said his 9000 class needed 48" radius.
I have already started my piggy bank, but, it’s not all directed towards trains. I won’t be able to afford a monster like the 9000 class for awhile. But, I can drool over it, dream about it, and so on. But, while I save, I can compare the model to the real thing.
THANKS ALL!

Key imports http://www.keyimportsinc.com/ is still teasing us with a release of several versions of the 4-12-2’s. They were supposed to be available in March when I first noticed them. Then they slipped to May and now to August/September 2004. I actually called Dave at Key Imports to find out more and was told they are spec’d to run on a 30" minimum radius but might really require 32-34". I wanted to verify tthe minmim radius before I started on my layout as I really want to get a 4-12-2. Incidentally, Dave said that there was only a total of 100 engines in the run, including all variations. I’m guessing that even with that small a run he still doesn’t have enough reservations to finaly commit to producing them yet. Such a cool engine. I’d really like one with DCC and sound.
