Does Train Parts USA exist?

Is anyone familiar with an outfit called “My Train Parts USA?” here is the url:http://www.mytrainpartsusa.com/index.php I’ve sent a couple of emails and even filled out the invoice as requested, but have heard nothing from anyone at the other end. There is no phone number to call. It’s kind of annoying because the part I’m requesting from them is holding up a project.

A white pages search turned up “My Train Parts USA.” in Phoenix, Arizona. Phone: (602) 368-182. I can’t say if this is a legitimate website or not. I usually use Port Lines Hobbies or others, Good luck to you.

Well, they still have a website, but when I called the number, I was directed to voicemail…

The full name/add and phone number is:

Not having anything better to do, I went on Mapquest for a satellite view and it is an apartment complex.which accounts for the #139…( Apt 139) You can clearly see the pool in the courtyard. Not a good sign unless the guy has a spare bedroom full of inventory. .

Has anybody noticed the similarity between this website and another vendor? I’d take my business elsewhere based on what I’ve seen and read here. Shady is an understatement.

Lionelme, don’t despare. I’m sure he’s dilligently searching eBay for your requested part, even as we speak.

The apartment address is a bad sign. [:'(]

In hindsight, I wish folks would mention parts dealers they have had good results from. I know from experience that looking for restoration parts can be a real challenge.I started a thread listing one I had success with in addition to Port Lines. Maybe other folks can offer other sources. This particular one in Phoenix, I can only hope no credit card payment or check was forwarded. It certainly seems suspicious.

That has been done a lot of times but most won’t search for it. the top 3 I can think of are and there being put down in random order as I consider all 3 very good

Olsen’s

Train Doctor

Train Tender

Here’s some that actually answer the phone and fill orders. [:)]

Brasseur Electric Trains

Dr. Tinker Repair parts

George Tebolt Train Parts Inc.

Hollash’s Trains - Lionel Train Parts

J&K Trains & Parts, Inc.

Stan Orr 's Lionel Train Parts

The Train Tender

Me thinks there’s a story here…

The first red flag for me would be the lack of a name on their web site.
Regardless, there are plenty of parts dealers out there. It’s rare to find a part at one dealer that is not available elsewhere.
If I wrote to a parts dealer and didn’t receive a reply within a reasonable time, I’d move on to another.

My short list (for Lionel parts)

Train Tender
George Tebolt
Dr. Tinker
North Lima Train Works
Lionel .

How did I miss Lionel in my list. [(-D]

Spank,

I haven’t done business with them because of their site. It appears that this person ripped off The Train Tender’s site. Check them out. What I saw was enough to make me uneasy.

I just get most of my Lionel parts from The Train Tender and Portlines. Jeff K. of The Train Tender and Doug P. of Portlines are both top notch. Dean and the rest of the Brasseur’s crew are also great to deal with.

For all those questioning USA Train Parts, I for one have had good service from this source. Having been a one man “basement business” operator myself I have to say I don’t necessarily expect phone calls to answered. The owner undoubtedly has a day job too. I find USA Train Parts to be a reliable source of some really hard to find parts.
