Things were going great - perhaps too great. I built one of the odd sections of benchwork to connect between sections, one I had contemplated makign a liftout and decided not to. ANd I started patching holes in the shells of 3 of the RS-3’s I have to build - patched them yesterday, sanded the putty today. Even removed the numbers on the MDC kit, which is painted in a way off shade of Pullman Green and has the wrong font for the roadname and cab number. Yes, all was fine…
Then I was laying out the rest of the track. And somehow miscounted my equipment neeeds by: 1 left-hand turnout, 1 left hand cork pad, 1 Motrak servo mount, and 2 Tam Valley Singlets. The Singlets and Motrak mount annoy me the most, because had I ordered the Singlets all at the same time I would have ordered 5 which is a quantity discount break point. I’ll need more flex track anyway, so I just ordered all the track bits from Klein, along with a couple other jars of paint. I also ordered some Scalecoat II paint for the RS-3s as well as a bottle of it to paint the handrails on the RS-3s as well as the handrails on my Stewart AS-16s. Not worried about what gets here before Christmas, I won;t have time to work on stuff until next week anyway.
And then the RS-3 projects are on hold for lack of needed detail parts. So much for starting 3 and doing them assembly-line style. I need the new Cal-Scale horns, part 552, and NO ONE has any, Walthers shows out of stock and no expected delivery so no sense ordering through the LHS, and also no one seems to have the bell, part 430. Walthers has those but I might as well wait til I can get the horns so I can order it all at once.
But hey, model railroading is FUN!
