Howdy fellow Denverites,
While driving over the Park Ave West bridge today, I noticed two boarded up DRGW GP 30’s behind a BNSF Dash 9 near the BNSF shops. Anybody know the story on these units? What they are, where they’re going, etc,?

I havn’t seen or heard of them…I know that a couple of months ago UP was using two DRGW engines in thier yard as switchers, one patched (I think UP 1901) and the other was un-patched, can’t remember the number though.
I’ll bet MC would have an answer for you though.
As an aside, I think we should try to organize a meeting of all the forum people here in CO. I know you and Mud are here with me in Denver, and I know FTunder is down in the Springs, plus I saw someone from Longmont post yesterday. Might be interesting, just a thought.
I’m hoping MC knows. I’ve seen a GP30 sitting down by the Burnham shops, and I saw another up by Loveland at the GRW shops, but in each case there was only one present. Whatever these are, I doubt they’ve been used recently too much based on their appearance. I would love to see them running again. GP30’s are one of my favorite locos, and the Grande is one of my favorite roads.
I’m definately game for a CO area list meet. Just let me know the time and place, and I’ll be there!

GP30’s at Burnham belong to RGCX (ski Train Related), who also owns the two 125 ton Industrial Brownhoist hooks there. The UP owned deadline at Burnham is pretty much all gone.
The GP-30 at Loveland is/was one of about seven of the derelicts.
As for the two engines at Globeville, those may be leftovers from OmniTrax’ fire sale, off to a new home, or to be cannibalized by others.
