What is the correct drill size to use with Atlas #2540 1/2 inch long track nails? I know that the drill should be ‘slightly’ smaller than the nails to drill in plywood and ‘slightly’ larger to drill through the ties…an analytical person would know that there is an ‘optimum’ size…
Why use track nails?
Use DAP adhesive chaulk! It stays tacky for about 20 minutes so you can adjust the track. If you need to change it later, just pry it up, clean it up a bit and th track is ready to be reused.

DAP makes several varieties of “caulk”. Which one do you use??

I use a #60.
If I recall correctly, I used a number 52

A .039 will work but what i do is hold a nail with a pair of needle nose pliers by the head of the nail, heat it up with a soldering iron, and as soon as it gets hot it will melt the tie enough for you to pu***he nail into place…works like a charm!..Chuck[:D]
