Duplicates

Help me compile a list of scale models that have been done more than once.

All in HO…

USRA light 2-8-2 -----Trix, Genesis, IHC, BLI

UP 4-6-6-4 —Bowser, Rivarossi, Lionel, Genesis

UP 4-8-8-4 —Trix, Rivarossi

F7 —Genesis, Athearn, BLI, Intermountain, Stewart, MRC

C&O 4-8-2 --IHC, Spectrum

SD70MAC — Kato?, Genesis

PRR K-4 ---- BLI, Spectrum, Bowser

Include scale please.

All in HO, too…

F-3: Genesis, Intermountain

E-6: P2K, BLI

Add Bowser, Oriental (1/2 & 1/2 brass and cast) and AHM (same molds as the current IHC)

Add Bowser and Revell (non-powered)

Add Life Like, Bachmann Tyco, Mantua, Marklin (I think, years ago), Model Power, Globe, Varney, and anyone else who’s ever built engines in HO!

And add brass to all of the above.

And add to the list the B&O’s 0-4-0T Docksider. Brought to you by (at least): Varney, Bowser, Rivarossi, Life Like, AHM and brass.

Brass doesn’t count here, Breyer. Almost every engine has been done in brass one time or another.

HO.

C44-9W: Athearn, Kato

FM trainmaster: Athearn, Atlas

Baby Trainmaster: Bachmann, Atlas?

USRA 2-8-2B: Rivarossi, BLI

PRR GG-1: BLI, IHC

HO…

SD40-2 ---- Kato, Athearn, BLI

E7 —Con-Cor, BLI, P2K

For PRR GG-1, add also Rivarossi

HO…

GP-7: Atlas, Athearn(?), P2K.

K-4s: BLI, Spectrum

SD70MAC: Kato, Athearn Genesis

AC4400CW: Kato, Athearn (I think)

Challenger–Lionel/Athearn

What about non-locomotive rolling stock?

You’re forgetting the Model Power E-7’s. OTOH, I think Con-Cor bought the tooling. I believe the MP units were actually built by Roco.

Oh yeah. Same applies for E-8’s/9’s.

Andre

GP-35 done by Athearn and Kato
GP-40 done by Atlas and Athearn
SD-35 done by Atlas and Con-Cor

GP 38’s by Atlas, Athearn, & Proto

Bowser and AHM “Casey Jones” If it counts, cuz…

Bowser and AHM (Rivarossi) labeled a 4-6-0 Casey Jones. The AHM was pretty accurate, the model representing the loco as built with a clerestory on the cab roof.

Bowser’s was nowhere near accurate for that Illinois Central prototype in any phase of its existance. So 'zit count?

Opppps[:0][:0][:0]
I almost forgot, Alco PA’s by Athearn and P2k!

GP-9: Life-Like P2K, Front Range Products, Cox, Model Power, Walthers, Hobby Town of Boston, Lionell

GP-7: Life-Like P2k, Front Range Products, Atlas, Athearn, Lionell

GP-30: Lionell, Athearn, Bachmann, Life-Like P2K

SW-1500: Athearn, Bachmann

SW-7: Athearn, Con-Cor (although its more of a late model NW-2)

NW-2 Kato, Revell, Varny, Con-Cor (their “SW-7” was really an NW-2 as said above)

S-12: Athearn, Stewart

C-628: Stewart, Model Power, Life-Like, AHM, IHC

C-630: Stewart, Tyco

GP-20: Tyco, Mantua, Life-Like P2K

GP-18: Life-Like P2K, Bachmann, AHM

well thats all that comes to mind right now… im off for bed and i’ll rack my brain more later…

Monograhm had a stattic model of a 4-8-8-4. Its now made by someone else.

Bob

Athearn did a GP40-2. It was not a duplicate of the GP40. Con-Cor and Atlas have released a GP40. The Con-Cor model is actually the old Atlas model that was built by Roco years ago.

Atlas did a GP38.

Proto 2000 and Athearn have offered a GP38-2.

It just occurred to me that nobody has mentioned the NYC J1 Hudson, which has been done in HO by American Flyer and BLI (and I vaguely remember that Marx might have done a really [censored] version) of the same engine).

'Course the AF version hasn’t been produced for at leat 40 years, so it may not qualify if you’re talking about locos produced in the last 10-20 years or so.

The Varney (now Bowser) “Casey Jones” and the MDC Harriman 4-6-0 might also be considered duplicates as they’re based on essentially the same prototype (SP T-28). The Varney engine originally was sold without valve gear, which made it more closely resemble the Stephenson equipped T-28. To be technically correct (more or less), the Bowser version needs to have the cylinders off the “Old Lady”, since, with Walschaerts valve gear, it’s basically a T-31.

Maybe one of these days BLI or Bachmann Spectrum will get around to doing a Harriman 4-6-0 as either or both a T-28 and T-31. At least Bachmann has the proper tender for it, although the handrails are wrong.

Andre

Its now made by Con-Cor.

Don’t forget, Trix makes them too![:0]
