Where are dwarf signals mainly used?
Trying to figure out where to place some on my layout.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Mark

Dwarf signals are used to control train movement through interlocking. They ‘fit’ between congested tracks very nicely. They are mainly used in terminal areas or slow speed trackage(like where a yard lead joins a main track).
That said, there are also signal type indicators on some switches(BNSF Northtown yard is an example) that show the position of the switch. This indicators are in the actual switchstaand/control unit and are within yard limits.

so that means you want to put the dwarf signals at turnout point locations…chuck
