E-Z Track?

I just got an N scale kit for Christmas, but it came with the E-Z track system. I’m going to be doing a lot of landscaping, scenery will be pretty big. Do you think the track will be too limiting? What are the disadvantages to that system?

[:)] I am new also, but with the books available, and bachmanns online info, and info from members here, I believe you can do almost anything with the eztrack. I have seen some awesome pics with eztrack and some ballest. Also one advantage I see, if you change your mind on the layout, your roadbed changes instantly. Can’t do that with typical roadbed. Have a great time and send a pic when you are finished. Welcome.

neufeld,

Welcome to the forum!

The disadvantage to the E-Z track is that you are limited to the type of track (i.e. straight and curve sections, as well as turnouts or switches) that Bachmann produces. With non-ballasted track you have much more flexibility and variety of sectional track, as well as the ability to use what’s called “flex-track”. That doesn’t mean that the E-Z track is necessarily bad, it’s just limiting.

Alright, thanks. I got enough of a deal on the train and controller that I can just keep the kit, not use the EZ track, and get my own flexible track. I appreciate your help!
