Ebay Source for Can replacement motors for Rivarossi/AHC Locos

There use to be a source for small can motors on ebay but recent searches have come up empty

the one I’m interested in actually fit inside the old original shell for mounting purposes

I have one I bought 4-5 years ago for a Rivarossi Pacific And it runs great but I just can’t remember the source

I tried NW Shortline and all they have is a motor twice the size that requires extensive frame work surgery

I’m trying to replace the motor on my Rivarossi Berkshire

Any help is welcome

are these the type of motor you’re trying to replace?

Try Bowser parts for an original one. They do work with DCC…

I know who you are talking about. But for the life of me I cannot remember the sellers id. I bought the round can motors to remotor a berk, a 464, a plymoth switcher, a heisler and I think a 080. Motorman may be the guys Id but not positive’

microlocomotion is the guys ebay id. email him and ask him if he has the round can motor that you need.

here is a listing that I think was what I used. different guy but it looks like the same motor.

Thanks Sent him an email

Yes Greg the 3 pole doesn’t do well at slow speeds

Tried him his closest was just a bit too big

Let us know what you find. I have an older Rivarossi Berkshire with the big fat three pole motor. It runs OK, but I’d be interested in a can motor if it didn’t mean too much frame surgery.

Ordered one of these

Will let you know how it fits

Another source for these high quality pancake motors is from CD drives. They’re often used for the tray ejection drive, and on the really old ones, you can also get some decent flat can motors from the laser positioning mechanism.
