I am looking into going to DCC. Been looking at Digitrak, & CVP but in my research came across the ECoS. This is abit more than what I wanted to spend but. I was wondering if anyone has played with one of these and if it is any good?
I saw it at the National Train Show this summer. Very impressive, but new to the market. Some things seem a bit overenginnered, but that’s the Germans for you (I own German cars). The control knob is a potentiometer, which usually means switching from one running loco to another is a real pain, one of the lcoos will have to change speed to match the knob position. However - on the EcOS, the knobs are motor-driven like high-end stereo gear. Switch to a different loco, and the kbob adjusts to the correct position.Nifty but others do the same speed matching simply by using a digital encoder. A noce feature of the EcOS is the soft keys feature of the display. The console has a large LCD display, and besides fixed-function buttons, it also has on-screen keys that change depending on the operating mode and function. The screen is a touch screen.
