www.ehobbies.com had a probably “too good to be true” price on trains including Bachmann Acela sets, so I ordered one online…in the 6 days since I ordered it, their web site has become “Ehobbies Yahoo! Store” and all evidence of my order has disappered (other than the e-mails from them and printout of the confirmation page that I made). So far, no charge has appeared on my credit card.
Was that place kind of in shaky shape or something? They used to advertise in Trains so I assumed they were somewhat legit. Of course, if I’m just disappointed, that’s not a big deal. If a charge appears though, that’s a whole 'nother helpline.
To close the story (hopefully), I received my eHobbies order via UPS Ground, and it had everything I ordered, and the appropriate charge has been made to my credit card. The only caveat is that portion of the purchase order form that explains their return policy has rubber-stamped over it “ALL SALES FINAL - NO RETURNS”, which wasn’t what I expected when I placed the order (I don’t recall being notified about that). But assuming everything works correctly, I’m satisfied.
i didnt see any deal’s on ehobbies,and the price of the engine,were way to steep for me,like maybe they were trying to make up their lost,thru selling engines,i heard of them going out of bussiness,from my lionel dearler,in puyallup wa==>>>>>> hub
Well, I have now received an e-mail confirming that my order was shipped. I had chosen the cheapest option, UPS Ground. The e-mail was supposed to include the UPS tracking number, but that section was blank. The toll-free number in the e-mail says they’re having system problems and then hangs up.
So we’ll see what happens.
I don’t recall ehobbies being around that long. I
have been successful with trainworld-modeltrainworks and standard. Their return policy
is stated up-front & with re-stocking fees if
applicable. These guys have been around and have
good prices…
I didn’t care for ehobbies. They were expensive and seemed to be mostly interested in their web site rather than the hobby and good business. I believe the term “dot con” may apply, as in many cases these days.
Hey, their web site is still going, although somewhat different. No more big write ups about the YUPPIES who were behind it I see.

Can you give me the new website for ehobbies?
Ehobbies went bankrupt when the .com companies hit hard times due to the fall of the nasdaq a year ago. A lot of .com companies disappeared at that time. I heard of a employee buyout of the company but remains to be seen if they can jumpstart it. I wouldn`t buy stock yet…
