“EMC’s image and production line…” EMC for Electromotive Division? (timestamp 00:29)
This is the latest from Kalmbach Publishing in a series of decades of the 20th Century about how railroads changed in those decades. Classic Trains has sure put out alot of special issues through the years I have enjoyed reading. I will enjoy Trains of the 1970’s where it tells about the birth of Amtrak. It will tell about how Penn Central, Reading, the Central of New Jersey, the Lehigh Valley, the Lehigh and Hudson River and Erie Lackwanna became one big railroad known as Conrail that I just went nuts over when I was just 12 years old and I still have not gotten over Conrail as of yet after CSX and Norfolk Southern bought it out. I will also read about the Auto Train and how this tried to stay together unitll it ended service in 1981, It was a decade of mergers and all kinds of different aspects of railroading in that decade. I will sure enjoy every minute of reading it.
Excellent video and commentary about the impact of the diesel locomotive. Thought provoking!
Very much enjoyed the video excerpted from F Units in Action. Hope you will consider releasing the entire video again in DVD format. I’m guessing the VHS version is no longer available. Would enjoy watching the entire program. Especially enjoyed this latest issue on F units.
Best,

So refreshing to view footage of when locomotives looked like a locomotive. I know it is progress, but today’s units do not hold a candle to the F’s when it comes to sheer beauty.
After watching the video clips, I had to go to the basement and put a few F’s on the head end of my model RR and let the wheels of progress take over for my steam engines.
as stated here- wish vhs was on dvd. get a ROXIE VHS TO DVD for your computer. cost about $50 dollars, do them yourself.
OUTSTANDING!!!
Wonderful. Love the insightful commentary!
