I am thinking about adding an electronic e-unit to a my two post war engines in order to eliminate the buzz while in neutral.
Can you tell me the following …
-
Which unit is better Dalle or QSI ?
-
How hard or easy are they to install ?
-
How good are the installation instructions ?
-
I’d like to have the option of locking the unit in Forward OR cycling Forward -Neutral-Reverse. Can I do that with either unit.
Anything else you can tell me ?
Thanks,
Jeff
Have you considered putting a rectifier on your electromechanical e-unit? A search of the forum on the word “buzz” will turn up more than you want to know about the topic.
Electronic reverse units have greatly improved and are easy to install. No noise, works with dirty track, etc. QSI makes a ACRU-E retrofit replacement for Lionel’s mechanical unit. They are around $32.00.
The qsi ones will handle allot more current than the Dallee but both work excellent.
If it is for a ac motor the acru-e fits in the exact same place as the mechanical e unit and works perfect. I have one in my lionel Reading T1 northern as the mechinal one wanted to stick and no more problems.
