Elgin, Joliet & Eastern Railway

Here is a photo of a single track CN line running through the south suburbs of Chicago as it crosses Harlem Avenue just south of Route 30. This is the former EJ&E line as it circles around Chicago.

The photo is looking west. The EJ&E is mostly double track but, for whatever the reason, this section is single track for a few miles between Cicero Avenue in Matteson on the east and Nelson Road in New Lenox on the west.

Here is a black and white photo taken at the Waukegan Roundhouse of an EJ&E switcher at the northern terminus of the EJ&E mainline.
