Jeffrey, can you run the flatcars that haul these L&N trailers?

If they’re not over 60 feet.

Coffee in a UNION PACIFIC mug, please.

***Garry, I must have been in a daze. Please extend a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your mother.

***Ken, if you get really bored, feel free to come on over and you can help me build some fences. Seriously, I sure hope you don’t lose your house.

Can’t get the Polaris Ranger to idle at all. Turned the set knob in both directions but have been unable to get it to keep running without pressing on the accelerator. Dang!

Hope y’all are having a good day.

Evening Folks

Flo, Beer Please.

Well today was like getting a hot cinder down the back of your shirt. Did some switching at the grain elevator and had fun. Started to get inspired to work on the layout and took inventory of the need ground foam, paint, and such. Pulled out some forgotten boxes and found round 40 forgotten rolling stock and engines.

1:30 PM, was hungry and feeling just a little lite headed. Decide to go eat at Taco Bell. After that I was going to Home Depot to see if they had a cheap meter so I could check my motors one last time. Took for what seemed for ever to get 2 soft shell taco’s. Felt about the same and figured it would take a while for the food to get in the system.

2:00 PM got to Home Depot and could not find any meters in the tool department. Finally found a employee that said he was a electrician! (hum, must be a bad one if he is working at Home Depot" Showed me where the meters where and asked what I need it for. Told him I need a meter that would read DC Mil amps. Told me they did not have any. You would think a $150.00 meter could do that and wire your bathroom. (not that I was going to spend $150.00 for a meter).

2:30 got back to the car and started feeling worst. Went to Wendy’s to get a sugar soft drink. $1.09 for a small soda? No wonder I drink water the few times I get fast food. Still did not feel any better and decided to head home. I was with in 200 feet of Wal Mart, I was going to get the printer while I was out.

Got home around 3:15 PM and wife is out with the daughter. Could not find the blood sugar monitor so I could not test my blood.

Decided to head to the garage / train room. Things did not get any better! Box I had sat out to ship Jeffery’s stuff has vanished a long with the peanuts. (sure wife grabbed it up)

Next I wanted to run the trains, bad idea. Railed up s

Must have been me sending out negative vibes! Don’t buy the printer yet, save your money, I may have a solution for you. I’ll know for sure tomorrow.

Evenin’ folks!

Janie just the Turkey Club Sandwich, side of fries w/ gravy, a trip to the salad bar, a cup of decaf, and some extra metformin for me right now… (Diabetics should understand the attempt at humor here…)

Did a bit of cleaning in anticipation of have some family over to the house a week from now. I sent out invites early last week and have had only one reply from a nephew saying his family can’t attend… For the last several days I have been finding both in the house and outside what appeared to be carpenter ants at first glance. 3 days in a row one was sitting on the counter next to the coffee maker. first day I mumbled under my breath and disposed of it quickly. Second day it took me several attempts to get it… I finally took a closer look… Not an ant at all, just looked like one. Anybody out there know what it is? Got rid of three wasp nests on my own porch today as well. Don’t think the company would enjoy sitting on the chairs with a paper wasp nest a couple inches from them (under the slat board chair…).

Currently getting very dark and cloudy outside. Just checked the weather for where Galaxy lives. Hope he is high and dry. They are talking 2 to 4 inches of rain tonight in Binghamton, NY and 4 to 7 inches in some nearby areas… I have to be out at the museum tomorrow while it is raining and we could have 35 mph winds as well… Wonder if they will shut down for the day. The Finger Lakes is right on the edge of the Low to Moderate threat area… The line appears to be moving to the West… [:^)]

Later!

I found out I have a cousin who’s playing for the Cleveland Indians baseball team. Josh Tomlin #43. His mother is my great aunt on my mother’s side.

Evenin’ folks!

Janie, just a decaf as usual for at the moment.

Jeffrey… Cool!

Got a phone call from my son a while ago. They came home from vacation a day early. Spent all day driving in fairly nice weather. Don’t think they would want to be driving home through Connecticut tomorrow… [:-^] They went to a couple Aquariums during the week and I guess my #1 Granddaughter can already identify several ocean fish… She is a smart one at 4. [swg]

Hope all of you on the East Coast are able to stay safe and dry!

GOOD MORNING!!!

Today is SUNDAY, AUGUST 28, 2011!!!

Oh, it is definitely [st], [st], [st], and an [um] may not help. It is POURING here…has been since aobut oh a burst went trough about 7-8 pm. After that, rain settled in and has been pouring. We are thick as thieves in it now.

MOH is worried about gettting to work tomorrow, and if there, about getting back home. There are a lot of RR underpasses along the way so MOH may have to take an alternate time consuming route.

Good Morning,

Saturday I installed the tracks to the coal mine, installed a new kitchen faucet in the 1:1 scale kitchen and cut the grass. Today I’ll be out in the garage building the first parts of my rolling stock cabinet for the layout.

Curt set the ballast like you want it, mist it with 70% Isopropyl rubbing alcohol, and then drip 50/50 water/glue on the ballast. The Isopropyl breaks the surface tension of the ballast and allows the glue to “run around” the ballast to lock it in place. I add enough glue/water to make the area look soaked.

Good morning. It’s 71° and mostly clear. The high will be 103° (feel like 106°) and it will be mostly cloudy.

If you went by the weather here you’d never know anything was happening on the east coast. So far we haven’t received any grim news from my sister in Pennsylvania.

Yesterday I took the time to sort my Kadee coupler boxes by type. #232 (with ears) in large pill bottle labeled for Kadee 232 coupler boxes and #242 (no ears) in a large pill bottle labeled for Kadee 242 coupler boxes. I also did the same with my couplers. #5 in one bottle, #148 in another and so on. I now have bottles containing four types of Kadee couplers. #5, #148, #118, #119. There are also bottles for EZ-Mate 2, McHenry #71 shelf couplers, McHenry #41 metal coil scale coupler andlast and least EZ-Mate 1 and McHenry plastic spring couplers (glued shut for use as dummies).

I also got one of my L&N piggyback trailers ready to be changed from L&N to L&A. I’ll do the same with the other one today. I should have the L&A decals on them today. Instead of L&N Piggyback they’ll say L&A Piggyback.

Mornin’ everyone!

Zoe, I’ll have the rainy day big breakfast, over easy on the… dang! I keep forgetting we’re in Canada. Make them as soft as you can, OK?

Irene has made an appearance here in the Finger lakes and will be controlling the weather all day… Getting rian and some pretty good wind at the moment. We are right at the outer edge of the massive storm, so it should not be terrible here. Calling for constant rain and thunderstorms and 25 to 35 mph winds with gusts up to 50mph… Me, I have to drive to the museum and open up… Not looking forward to it today!

Best get moving if I am to get out there and get everything opened before they cancel the trips today…

Later!

Morning Folks

Flo, coffee please.

Well last night did not go any better than the day did. Went and ate, then got real bad Heart Burn. Had to try sleeping sitting up till around 1:00 AM. Then, well lets just say I had to go to the small offices a lot for a hour or so. [:-^]

This morning,I have a bad rash. Hurts to sit down. Plus I still feel sick to my stomach. Not been a great 24 hours. When I get done here, I am going to lay down and see if I can get some sleep in.

Rob Wish you lived closer, I been happy to help with the fences.

Barma Yes I have thought about working in a parts store. Big problem for me is I have bone spurs in my ankle. If I stand for 45 minutes my left foot starts to hurt. 2 hours and the left ankle starts to swell and I can hardly walk.

Well, heading in to [zzz]

See you all later.

Ken

Good Morning Folks,

the last couple of days saw me down with a bad migraine. It is not gone yet, but OK for me to get out of bed and eat.

Zoe, a cup of chamomile tea, please - I am still feeling a little sick.

I hope that all of you NY State folks stay safe while Irene is paying her visit to you!

Ken - hope you get better soon and get positive news on the new job.

Blessings,

Good Morning!! Coffee and um….why’s the Buffet up? Oh! Must be Sunday. I’ll have that thank you.

Hm, still no Bill?

Don’t even talk about my yesterday. I will just say the good part was it cost me no direct out of pocket expenses. I got abso-LUTE-ly NOTHING done.

Brenda wanted to have our own little NCIS Marathon yesterday, so…, I thought carefully. Work on something I should, or sit in a chair and spend some time at home with my wife….while watching Ziva. Turned out to be a no brainer. Watched first three discs of NCIS season 8[Y]. Brenda accused me of having a crush and a mental affair with Ziva. Don’t know where she came up with that[:-^]. She informed me however, that wishing for your crush to get together with someone else is not exactly the normal way to go about it, but…, it works for her. And that sometimes not having the brightest husband in the world, works out pretty good. [^o)]I’m not not sure just how to take that. I then, of course, reminded her of her insistence on watching the shows that have that guy who’s the FBI Agent on Bones in them. He also played Angel the Vampire. Yeah, try and get her away from the TV when THAT guy’s on there. She, of course denies it. She did get a real good laugh at my “why Ziva reminds me of you” theory. She says she “in no way looks a THING like Ziva”. She did admit that once upon a time….maybe. A bit. But to her, if the face is different, or any part of the face is different, no two people look anything alike. I then brought up babies. I said, you run around and look at newborn babies that ALL look the same, and claim they look like so and so. But she looks at an adult and if they are not spittin image twins, or related, look nothing alike. She did admit to the similarities in our behaviors for the first couple thr

Good Afternoon All,

Got through the hurricane with just a couple of minor leaks and some water flowing through the basement and out the drain there so no depth to it. Shop was mostly intact with no power and none expected for a while as there are multiple trees down there.

More concerned about our folks south of us in Fla, NC, Va, and NJ as they caught it a lot worse than we did. We should get the tail end of the storm soon and then it’s just waiting for the rivers to crest. Hope the rest of you are ok. J.R.

And people wonder why I don’t buy Canon printers anymore. Because they don’t last! I don’t buy LexMark printers anymore either. They have a nice low price but the cartridges cost WAY too much.

Afternoon everyone,

We’re almost through it. We’ll still have rain and wind for a while, but the worst of it is gone. Where I’m staying (five miles from the beach), there’s not much, but I’ve heard that other parts of town, particularly near the river.

We still can’t get back to the shore house. I’ve heard that there’s not a lot of major damage in the area, but the entire barrier island is still underwater. Looks like we’ll be staying here another night, hopefully able to get out sometime tomorrow.

Hope all of you who were also affected are fine.

Catch ya later,

-Joe

A lone passenger heads for his car as his westbound train leaves the station.

After noon folks.

Flo, I take a diet Dew please.

Well, I am starting to feel normal (I use the term loosely) today.

Did a quick Train Room clean up, seems Simon 1966 and his sons Andrew and Crispy are coming over for a visit! [:D] Plus Simon is bring over his meter so I can finally sort out which motors are junk and which ones are keepers!

Cannon Printers Well, I got what I paid for! But for $28.00 I cannot complain much, some but not a lot. My first printer was a Lexmark 3200 and it last for 3 computers! But as stated, refills cost a lot! I think the black was around $28.00, cost of a Cannon printer.

Joe Hope you get home soon and find no damage to the home.

See you all later!

Ken
