[8D] Well,Well this is the new place!! great work you did to the diner Elliot! I see that Zoe and Chloe are still here! I haven’t been here for about two years, and it’s great to be back!! I love the new video room “G. Guy” your vid is excellent, I’ve been workin’ on a great layout for about three years now, and it’s coming along fine, it’s a moderen era layout, featuring Union Pacific, BNSF and Southern Pacific, (They are back stronger than ever, well at lease on my layout) Anyway, I have to run back I will be back soon! Oh Zoe? I will take a slice of your FAMOUS apple pie.[C=:-)] See you soon[8D]
I’ll have a regular and go to pick at Bills Buffet Zoe. Got moved into the furnished rental yesterday - much nicer than our own digs, but just not home. we meet the contractor this morning to go over the job at the house before meeting with the agents for the insurance company again tomorrow. Getting down to the nitty gritty as we get ready to start restoration work, hopefully soon.
Flash - I like the video a lot though I can’t seem to get it lightened up enough for my poor dim eyes. The night shots are great and would be even better if you could light the cars interiors somehow. Is that one of the Blueline Pennsy M1’s ?
Lots to do again today and congrats Duke - perhaps you can sneak your cycle into the victory parade? CUL, J.R.
Just thought I’d pop in real quick. Coffee and an english works for me.
Hope everyone’s doing OK, got a lot of catch up to do.
Been rather preoccupied lately, have 3-4 graduation parties to try to get to this weekend.
Things are going rather well with my new lady friend, Linda. We have quite a bit in commom and she’s great company. Great personaity and as an added bonus, she is really quite a looker also. Wouldn’t dare post a pic, she’d kill me…
And wouldn’t you know, after having such a miserable year, I get a love note from IRS and initiated from the lovely state of Massachusettes that I am being audited. Fantastic way to end the year. Going to be a joy to separate all the monetary gifts and donations, life ins from income. Ought to be a blast. Talked to many other widowers, this seems to be the norm. They just can’t leave you alone.
JR,
See that things are moving along. Was there much structural damage or more smoke and water?
Flash, nice video. I see you have those giants hanging out at your railroad also, LOL!
Flash - Garry what is the name of the barn back drop and where can I get one?
Alex that sounds like a real blast going to Railcamp. Enjoy! We expect pictures posted on the diner walls when you return.
1971, I was 5 years old, I’m not trying to make you feel old, just trying to make me feel young, LOL. I joined the Coast Guard in 1987; now most of the guys that work for me were born in 1984-1987.
Only 79,520 hours and I can retire with 30 years! But hey, who’s keeping track???
It’s very cloudy and 78 degrees. It’s expected to become mostly cloudy later today with a high in the mid 90’s.

Met with the contractor this morning and that seems ok. Tomorrow we all meet with the adjustor for structural to see what overall plan we’ll use but the job is looking bigger in scope every time we get someone else to look at it. Biggest code upgrades will probably be electric as the remainder of the old rubber covered, cloth wrapped conduit encased wire will need removing. Good news is it’s probably only left in the two rooms that are already gutted. J.R.
JP has been deployed by now I believe. We should all email him I think. I am embarresed to say I did not keep the email address. Does anyone have it handy. I can scroll down and look later if not.
Jeff has yet another neatly lighted photo I noticed.
Duke … I recall seeing many Red Wing games. At first, it was difficult because I grew up with the Blackhawks with Stan Mikita, Bobby Hull, and Dennis Hull… But it grew on me. Last time we had tickets it was in Nashville for Wings vs Preds. A scalper saw us and offered 3 times what we paid for the tickets, and we sold them. Shelley and I had a nice dinner and pocketed the rest. I love deals!
Bobk … Enjoy the grad parties! Regarding the IRS, I understand why the colonists had the tea party in your good town. We have a continuing saga with them at the present time. Their communications are worse than inept. There is no meaningful dialog with them. Our situation is they propsed taxing two items in 2005 which essentially means those items are to be double taxed. That’s not how it is supposed to work. They eventually removed one of the items but are still saying we owe on the second. They’ve changed their explanations which make no sense. It’s terrible.
Lee … My backdrop pictures come from various sources. One is some pictures i purchased really cheaply in thrift stores. they are in beat up frames that I discarded. The barn was in one of those pictures. I doubt you will find one just like it. Good luck getting ready for retirement. The years go by very quickly and it’s good to continue saving money and investing wisely.
JR … Keep us posted on the restoration. Is MRR stuff still safe?
Ryan is now having the lumberjack special. Now, now. I notice his weight loss chart is not being displayed either. I suppose his hawaiian trip is over and he’s not going to being impressing people at swimming pools and stuff like that.
Good morning All…Looks like more storms today…Had one hit yesterday afternoon took trees and power lines down…we lost power at 2:30 and didn’t get it back till 4:00 this morning…I sat up all nite…I sleep in my lift chair and it was down…A/C was off and that gives me breathing troubles so not a good nite!!..You all have a good one…Jerry
Thanks. The trains aren’t mine, and the only part of the layout I own is the club membership. I’ve done some scenery, but most of it was done before I joined.
Spending other people’s money? That’s always fun.[}:)] Though honestly, it is something you want, right?
For more info, I’ll send you here. There’s an overview of the whole layout, if you click this
As to the video, I gotta tell you how much I DON’T like Movie Maker. There’s a whole section I couldn’t put in because it wasn’t editing right.

Good Morning All,
Flash - I like the video a lot though I can’t seem to get it lightened up enough for my
Flash asked: "Garry: Nice scarecrow. But should he have that shadow on the wall?? "
Look again … There’s a crow on his head and one on each arm. Also two more on fence posts. … The cornfield is not a picture on the wall, but Busch’s corn field from Walthers.
Supposed to hit the mid-'80’s here in SunnyCal today. It was a mite breezy yesterday, but supposed to be calm today. Blew up all kinds of Allergens, so I spent a sneezy time in the garage. Can’t believe I had to wait until MY age to pick up allergies–but then this area of the state is supposed to be the worst for those thingies.
Well, still waiting for the Topside Creeper, so I spent a day doing major track cleaning. Garage layout, you know. Dust. Vacuuming track. Yech! I’ve got this wierd little Walthers track-cleaner that weighs about six tons and has the revolving pads. The only thing that will haul it is one of my Yellowstones, and the track cleaner kept stopping and starting–found out that for the thing to work, I had to clean IT’S wheels. Is that crud on the rails, or WHAT? Something I’ve learned to live with, though. And I can’t use liquid track cleaner in the garage, it just turns into Guck. So it’s dry-pad and pray.
Also found out that I’m going to have to re-lay the curved track on the Deer Creek Viaduct, there’s a joint in the middle that is just a de-railment waiting to happen. Luckily, I have a couple of sections of Sinohara Bridge track, and a 34" radius guide, so I spent the evening VERY gently curving the track. One nice thing about the Sinohara–you curve it, it STAYS! I’d use the ME bridge track, but I can’t find it in Code 100 (does ME even MAKE a Code 100?) I’ll install it today. Also have to check a couple of Busses, I seem to be losing power in one section of Yuba Pass. Ah, the hobby! Remind me to run a train or two, someday, LOL!
Jeff: That’s some GREAT weathering on those cars. Keep the photos coming. Isn’t Don Z a jewel, though? I’d take him up on one of his offers, but 1: the cars are the wrong era and 2: I&#
Pretty neat movie. “Cloverfield” was very popular with my students, so after they badgered me for a week or two, I went to see it. All hand-held camera work about some ‘Thing’ that 's invaded New York City. All you know about it is what the videographer does and it’s pretty spooky. But if you ever chance to see it on the big screen, take some sea-sick pills with you, the hand-held camera’s all over the place. One of my students described it as “The Blair Witch Project meets Godzilla.”
