"Avram: (gestures at Perchik and Mordcha) He’s right, and he’s right? They can’t both be right.
Tevye: You know… you are also right."
I see the Moderation has begun. Methinks a good thing!
Zoe, I’ll have a short stack of Blueberry Pancakes with real NYS Maple Syrup. Oh, a large pot of Dark Roast Coffee to keep my FLGK mug full would be excellent as well.
Everything is white outside this morning. I am about ready to head to Canandaigua (hope the roads have been sanded) to rescue little Claude from the vet place. I bet he will be very glad to get home, and that Clim will be very happy to see him.
Missed the morning blowout as we had no scraper for MOH’s car, and it had a “wintery mix” on it. SO I had to head out very early to Wally world to get one for MOH, as it will be needed with the coming weather, and MOH out in it driving frequently for work. It bothers me mroe this time of year that MOH is out in nasty weather…and has no choice but to drive clients around. That is the j-o-b. Of course, I worry about MOH and it was I, who, on the way to a Drs. appt. got rearended.
For those who made any comment at all for any reason on any topic, you are just as guilty as any one you think may be guilty of anything. Just a friendly reminder before one points a finger, one should always look at oneself first, no matter what the situation. All of us included. My grandmother used to tell me that…But I’ll take the heat.
~I’ll bet it is cold in Jeffrey’s part of the world, hope he had someone to turn on the heat at his place, the last thing he needs is a frozen pipe!
~Mr. B: congrats on the officially unofficial officially official retirement! May it bring you great joy! May you have time to work on trains! MAY you find you actually have LESS "free’ time as you will find very quickly a “person with unlimited free time” rarely has any! For a person who “has nothing to do”{according to some people} I have very little “off” time! BUT: being busy beats the old couch potato routine with NOTHING to actually do!
~I will wrap up some presents for the gemeinschaft {Social relations based on personal ties, affection, kinship, etc} {{There is YOU WORD FOR THE DAY}}. Ulrich would be so proud…
~Speaking of Ulrich, wonder where he has gone off to? The hospital?? WIsh Pertra knew English well enough to pop in and tell us a thing or two when he goes off to the
Regarding the Diner, I would like to see model railroading included in the conversations as much as you can. Tell us what you are doing with model railroading as you tell about other stuff. Sometimes, we are “armchair model railroaders” for various reasons, and that is fine too. Keep the friendships going of course. If you are not in agreement with another forum member, I urge you to politely resolve via PM’s to avoid any future conflicts in this public forum.
Again, Kalmabach owns the forum, and they determine the rules. Review the rules from time to time. Enough said about that.
…
Regarding my model railroading. Lately, I have been trying to refresh my knowledge of photography so I can improve my model railroad photos. I should have a better camera, but that is not in my budget now. There is a good website on this topic by “railphotog” (Bob Boudreau) who particpates in the MR forum.
Ken… love that 68 Charger with those colors and top. The lines of that car look fast… just sitting there. Maybe its the painted ‘Front hood’ I like.~
Inch 53… Thanks… and thought I’d share some pics with ya too.
YouGottawanta… lol. “Keith - Geeze did you scratch a hole in your face ?”
… lol… no… If I remember correctly… I used words… like Molar… and Wisdom… but I’m really not sure. I’ll tell ya this much… both were connected together… and so when he pulled… well he was pulling two at the same time. Surely many would have suggested to the Dentist to just straddle you and the chair to get a better grip. But thats how much it hurt… and the hole it left. But it does give good reason why I told my wife I could no longer talk on the phone. I’m sure my wife thought I was merely in a state of panic. I told her about what you said ‘it wearing off’~
OK… for those that remember the Laser Art wood kit… yellow house… with white stripes? Well forget it. Went and had some fun with color. And put together another type of house. Thought I’d share.
Using Red spray paint with yellow on top. With the intentions of only misting the area with color.
At some point… I stopped.
Its important to know when to stop.
I did want a lighter color, but in the in end I came up with this color and was quite satisfied.
Loving the stuff you are building Keith…[bow][bow]
Good Evening from snowville…yuck…
Hoping the forum works well here. The coffeehouse should be about all manner of things excepting the usual guff…new keyboard now my fingers don’t work.[banghead]
Chloe, I’ll have a hot chicken sandwich, french fries, a garden salad with blue cheese dressing, and a cup of decaf, please…
Garry, well said!
Barry, can’t come up with an H16-44, but I know where there is an Fairbanks Morse H12-44
I brought Claude back home to my sister’s house early this afternoon. I guess after the first day or so he settled in and was a good kitty while being boarded. Got him in the house and Clim was in the Living Room. He bolted down cellar while I let Claude out. Claude took off and went exploring trying to find my sister. them went out to the kitchen looking for food. I gave him ther half a can of cat food that was left over from yesterday and he started to wolf it down. As soon as Clim heard the refrigerator door open he knew food was in the offing so he came part way up the stairs from the basement. he saw Claude and got wide eyed, then looked at me and then back to Claude several times. Then he came right up and got his face into the bowl with the food. Claude decided he needed to go exploring again…
After Clim finished off the rest of the can food, he comes over to me and rubs against my pant leg. I leaned down and he let me pet him. I went in the living room and sat in my sisters reading chair and he came over and rubbed against my leg again. He let me pet him for about 45 minutes. I know he was thanking me for bringing his best buddy back home! We are now officially friends I guess. He is a very sweet kitty and it is nice he has finally accepted me again. This is Clim:
Garry, yep! My sister got very lucky this time with her cats and she has finally learned that cats don’t need to go outside where they can get run over or killed by dogs, catch parasites, and play havok with the songbird population of the neighborhood.
These two cats came from very different backgrounds. Claude was adopted from the local ASPCA Shelter and was part of a litter from a home somewhere locally. He had been very well taken care of and was in beautiful form when she got him at a few months of age. My sister just loved his markings. We both think there is some Scotish Wildcat somewhere back in his ancestry as he is huge (Weighs in at 17lbs) is very strong and loves water! He tends to be very friendly but somewhat alloof at times.
Clim was one of two kittens from a litter born to a ferral cat out in a barn/garage about a block away. About the time he was weaned his mother was killed and a few months after that his sister was run over and killed in the street. He started showing up at my sister’s house just a few weeks after an older ferral cat with long hair had disappeared (probably died). My sister found out some background about him from a nieghbor down the street. She left some food out for him and he became a daily visitor to her house. He was frightened of most everything and was a sad little guy. He soon decided that my sister was OK and would come over and sit on her lap and get petted every day when she fed him. One day she let him in the house to meet Claude. They had been staring at each other through the window for weeks… For the first few minutes Clim seemed fine and was nose to nose with Claude. He suddenly realized he was trapped inside the house and became terrified (He had spent 6 weeks trapped in a barn accross the street when
***YGW, missed your previous post. Yes, coffee does taste better in any railroad themed mug.[swg] As for teams, of my three “bird teams” (Falcons, Seahawks, Cardinals), only the Cardinals are doing well. So, there is still hope.[(-D]
***Keith, nice work![8D][tup]
Healing thoughts for those in need, including 4-leggers.
Dang it is cold for this time of year in Southern ILL! It is 17 degrees right now and I am missing the 15 pounds of fat I lost! Normally I handle cold well, not so far this year.
Z Strip yes I know what a Thunderbolt is and belive it or not, I am not shaking in my boots. [:-^] While it is not in a light weight I have a 1963 Super Stock 426 Maxie Wedge in the 68 Road Runner. Right now it has 906 383/440 heads for street driving. I still have the 4:38 Gears, Heads and Cross Ram intake for the motor. If some time you like to chat on the phone, I will tell you the story about how I happen to get the Compelet Maxie Wedge for $50.00. [:D]
Love to see some pictuers of the 427. I wish I had kept the 427 Mustang I had. [sigh] When I got out of the Army I had no way to get 2 cars home, so I sold the Stang and kept my 68 Road Runner.
With it over driven 10% I made 698 HP at 5200 RPM’s and a frame bending 750 foot pounds at 4800 RPM’s. All she needs is a 6 point cage to stiffen up the body and a 4 link and slicks.
Train Front Think I have found two of the problems with Shaky the GP 20 I got from Vince. I call it Shaky because it would run, the stop. Shake it a little and it would run again.
Train related:armchair modeler: I LOOKED at the train room yesterday and nearly fainted. It has so much other stuff in it it is impossible to get to the train table right now. TOday is garbage day, but I should do grocery shopping, maybe I will do some “cleaning and throwing out stuff” It works as “Storage roomn” too. I once had it all neatly done when I built the the small HO layout: 3.5 feet x 5.1 feet. BNow it takes up so much space it isn’t funny…the room is ONLY 8x9 feet…[:-^]
~I should go grocery shopping BUT i think i WILL see what I can throw out today…gotta happen sometime i guess…I can go grocery shopping on thursday…now if only my back holds out…
~back WON’t hold out long as my spinal nerve injections are next week, so It won’t take much before in agony. I have a call in to the Surgeons office to find out IF I can go ahead with the injections or nto…a spinal epidural may NOT be best thing afore a surgery… will find out, sooner or later.
~since the spinal nerve injections take about a week to get over and takes place one week before the surgery adn I am in agony for the week, THEn the shoulder surgery, I will BE one hurting puppy for awhile. SOme of you may wish I was in pain…[:-^]

Mornin, coffee dear with plenty of irish. A very cold morning here at 8 with a wind chill -7. Sun early then clouds n flurries, high near 20 maybe. Warmer weather for the weekend highs low 50’s, but rain.
Game Sun was ok, boys lost, but played hard. Hada light sn;w going up, still, still sn;win after. The ½ hour drive took 65 min home, and 2.5” of white on the ground Mon. 1 year ago yesterday, we tornado warnings and 71.
MR BEASLEY, sounds like a great plan for retirement
The number of trains outback are down only get bout 15 or 20 instead of 30 or 35 , like we were, guess the xmas rail delivery are pretty well done.
Bouts time for chores, plan on some train room cleaning. Thoughts for all in need n ya’ll have a gooden
Mornin’ everyone! Oh, Mornin’ Barry! Zoe put Barry’s tab om my account will ya?
Zoe, I would like the #2 special this morning, over easy eggs, bacon, home fries, and a double order of sour dough toast, and bring over the jar of strawberry preserves please.
Currently 20°F outside, up from 18°F when I first got up this morning. High today will get up to 24°F… “We’re havin’ a heat wave… Tropical Heat Wave…”
The sun is trying to peek through the clouds every now and then… I get to drive to Rochester this afternoon and chauffeur my sister back home. Glad she is not coming into the Buffalo Airport as Buffalo has had 3 foot of lake effect and is closed (state of emergency)! The NYS Thruway (I-90) is closed from the Henrietta Exit (46) to the Pennsylvania State Line… Haven’t had much here (knock on wood). A little over an inch. The roads are clear so no problem until I get to Rochester. I use the Henrietta exit and I-390 to get to the Rochester Airport. Fun, Fun, Fun!!! I read recently that the amount of water that lake effect can remove from Lake Erie is more in one hour than goes over Niagra Falls in a week… All that moisture then comes back down as white stuff from Buffalo East when the wind is out of the West. So right now Buffalo to Henrietta and Watertown area are really getting dumped on.
Garry - thanks for the email. Wasnt sure what happened here. But it sure sounds like a lot of folks got their panties in a bunch. Cannot figure out why folks get heir panties in such a bunch as something that is meant to be as Galaxy says “Healing power”.
Ken - LOL, DC Dazed and confused ROTF. Which charger body style was your favorite ? What did you think of the 66 like Elvis drove in that movie ?
Galaxy - even though you dont know how to spell Christmas ( you are short a few letters ) I for one do not wish you pain. I rather enjoy your daily post.
Howmus - do you send some of that cold weather here ? With the wind chill it feels like 16 degrees today ! Maybe that is because we are next to Washington DC. I think we should change it to Washington Dazed and Confused : )
Rob - No Problem. I have a question for you. Do you think it taste better because it is in a train coffee cup or because it is a UP coffee cup ? I wonder if I get an M&W trin cup wht it will taste like ? Maybe I will Ask for one as a Christmas present.
Mister B. - Congrats on your retirement or not retirement. Any way Congratulations I am sure it is well deserved !
Welp gotta get back to that awful word w**k - now that is a word that should be banned - TTYL
Warming up the grill and going to do the Artic BBQ. It is all the way up to 26! [:D] Might as well enjoy the warm weather. [(-D]
Train Front Well it did not go well. [sigh] While the wiring looks well done by Vince there is something very wrong. Seems what I thought was a Dazed and Confused Decoder is really a BBQ decoder. I made the mistake of installing the decoder from my UP F7A unit and cooked it as well. With the F7 decoder it did the samething, run, stop, run and stop. Installed it back in to the F7 and it was DOA. Only thing that will work is the lights, just like in the GP 20.
I am half way thinking the DH 123 /163 decoder is just to big. With the shell off, it ran. Install the shell and started acting up. Think I am going to try a N scale decoder the next time around. Will start gutting the engine later tonight.
Blowout (Its Berry Right?) I assume you are asking me if the Blower is the latest version? Far from it, it is a old school GMC Big Bore 6-71. It has a few trick things like teflon wipers, matched ported and flowed BDS Tented intake. I all so have a 250 HP Fogger set up to cool the fuel temps if I ever make it a race car. OK, it is for looks, if I use the bottles (Have 2 for the trunk) it will break the Charger in half. Never did install the fogger set up, goes under the carbs. After I saw the Dyno numbers I knew I bite off more than I could chew.
Dennis is a Mopar friend and is the cam designer for Reed Cams. He is the one that set up the cam profile up and had it made for me. He out did him self! Idles smooth but will nail you to the seat. I was hoping for 500 HP! [:-^] Heck, it made 300 HP at 2500 RPM’s. I quiclky under drove it 10 percent.
Thinking about buying a new computer. I found out where my company buys
Chilly as in 18F with a wind chill of 4F right now and it isn’t even sunny.
Well we finally made it down to Thief River Falls this past weekend so I now have my HO layout running again with the new DCC system. We had a great visit and a great meal out at the Evergreen restaurant where they serve great ribs. Ride home wasn’t much fun with strong NW winds causing a lot of blowing snow and poor visability.
I am nearly finished ballasting the main line on my N scale door layout. I just have to put the glue on a few more feet and then it is done. Next up will be the sidings which will have different ballast to reflect the usage. After that I think I will get the roads and streets down.
Mr. B, gongrats on the retirement. I joined that group a year ago and I think you will be glad you did too. People are right who wonder how they had time for work in the first place. I do find that I am staying up a lot later but then get up later in the morning. It’s all my wife’s fault as she is a night hawk so I wind up watching something on the TV often until 12:30.
Barry, nice to see you back !
I’ve been reading the posts in the diner and am not surprised Mr. Otte stepped in–glad he did.
SO GLAD I AM NOT in Buffalo, as parts got a whole 51" {yes four feet, Three inches} of s**w. such a dirty word.
TRAIN RELATED:
~ I worked on the train room all this morning. What a mess! I piled all train stuff floating around on top the train table. Probably not the best thing to do as it adds weight on top the tracks. But for now, where else to put it?
~Only threw out 3 bags {giant 39 gallon ones} of “garbage” from the room…as a “hoarder” which i am beginnig to think I am, seriously, I cannot bear to throw something of"value" or “stilll usefull”… out except when i am in a “throw away mood”. I was only half way there today.
~But most importantly I DID find the floor, and that with half the stuff GONE{IF I get ridof it|}, I COULD get back to work around the layout…just still not quite able to expand it to the 4.2 foot x 6.5 foot i’d LIKE to make it. The room is only 9’x8’! And chopped up with the “furnace bump”, the closet and the window and door…so with the “furnace bump” it really is only about 5.6-6’ deep there.
NON TRAIN RELATED:
~Wrapped PRESENTS for the great nephews all afternoon. Not all of it/them/the stuff, but a LOT of it. Some will go in stocking with glitter-glue names on them. The glue has to dry before I can do much stufffing. We will be going out there {a 45 minute drive} this weekend, so IF we don’t make it again before that holiday I cannot mention, the presents will be there. Also wrapped some for MOH and some “to US from Santa”…[:-^]
~Now as long as I remember where I hid them from MOH?
HALFWAY TRAIN RELATED:
~ The tree will go up thanksgiving day while the turkey is roasting…THEN the presents can go under the tree. It is the small 2’ from last year, and NO, I WON’T be putting the 40" {or is it 42"?} square train layout under it this year. Too much h
