ELLIOT's Trackside Diner VI: The Full Meal Deal!

Jim, I make my coal loads out of painted florist foam. I cut a block to fit in the car, shape it with coarse files and sandpaper (I perfer grits between 200-220 for sandpaper), then paint it black with acrylic paints using a stiff brush (a kiddie brush with plastic bristles works fine). I like to stick steel weights on the back of the load so I can pull it out with a magnet if I want to run empties, but this also brings the weight up to where it’s supposed to be.

Well I stayed up for the new years, so I’m going to hit the hay. Big day of train running later today (in the morning).

Edit, looks like I’m the picking up the first tab of the year…

Would you like to have the two fire trucks that come in this kit? I don’t need them. I have modern trucks courtesy of Boley.

Actually this is the FIRST one.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Jeff that would be cool, BTW did the package come back to you yet?

I’m going to try to get the LHS today and order some stuff out of the Walthers sale catalog.

RT, is the Jeff Gordon car the Coast Guard car???

Phillip – It’s hard to believe my Grandpa has been gone for 17 years; he passed away 3 weeks before my son was born, his second great grandchild. When I was a kid my grandpa and I would “re-work” my train layout while watching the parades and football games every January 1st.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

HAVE A GOOD AND HEALTHY ONE!!!

Our normal noisy, rousing entry into the new year was a tad muted this year—I didn’t have enough pots for the people in here to bang et cetera…

Tom; I think REMI will get over the shots easier with you doing them but still—eergh[:O]

Well it s NEW YEAR!!!

Seems like the same to me [8D].

Well I went to bed at 11:00pm. Man do I suck, and I’m only 29 [%-)].

The wife and I plan on taking down the tree today. It was a real tree so I am going to hack it up and use some of its limbs. Like for cut down trees, stumps, pulp wood cars, etc. Kinda makes me wanna do a small lumber yard. I might look into it.

Other than not, not much going on today.

Well I hope everybody new year is a good one. I will pop in and out today.

Well Good Morning Everyone!

So…2009, huh? MAN, I’m getting OLD!

Oh, and Johnboy…it’s all good!

Think I’m going to spend today working on my bike. Had a fuse blow, twice, the other day on the turn signals, so I must have a short. Probably just a wire rubbed raw and touching something. Tomorrow might be warm enough for a ride, so I’d best get it fixed today, ya know?

Prayers for all those in need, and for a good year for everyone here!

PC; I’m assuming your definition of warm isn’t quite like a fellow’s done the street from us who just took his '56 Indian out for a spin this morning— at -10C! [:O][%-)][:-^]

I haven’t seen it yet. I’ll get these fire truck kits out to you as soon as I can.

in a UNION PACIFIC mug, please & thank you.

Have a great day, Y’all.

Happy New Year. Welcome to 2009.

It’s 35 here and clear. The high today will be around 60 and it will be partly cloudy.

I had intended for New Years to be a quiet time at home last night but that didn’t happen. Just after 9 pm a group of twenty-somethings hauled me off to their party in my niece’s trailer. I’m certain she was behind it. I can assure you that I was a perfect gentleman and didn’t touch anything alcoholic. I watched them as they played their drinking games and when most of them were well plowed around 10:30 I made a bold dash for the door and made my escape with my sanity intact. The rap music they had going was about to drive me crazy! I went over to my sisters place and we watched ‘Journey to the center of the earth’ (the new one). About this time my parents arrived for the midnight festivities and we watched the ball drop at midnight (what little they showed of it) then I had a drink of a non-alcoholic sparkling berry champagne substitute and made a big dent in the ham and cheese audurves and the Chex Mix then went home. Of the original group of a dozen twenty-somethings five were still standing and three were actually coherent. If these people survive long enough to raise families I’ll be surprised. They were really putting the beer and mixed drinks away. As for me I put my new Model Power Fire Station kit together then got a couple hours of sleep.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

from the Land of Cheese. [:)]

This is my first trip to the diner, so I think I will have a Denver Omelette with a side of toast and some OJ. What a great way to start the new year.

I envy you in the south with your “cold” temps of 30 degrees. Last night’s low was about -5 (even less with the wind chill). I think we’re expecting a heat wave this weekend, as highs are projected into the low 20’s.

Anyway, I just wanted to stop in and say hellow and wish everyone a healthy and prosperous new year. I have several projects I need to tackle today (installing a decoder, doing some coupler conversions, and tackling my trestle project.

Take care,

Scott

GOOOOOOOOOD MORNING!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Time to get up and start enjoying the new year! So I’ll start with my usual dark French roast coffee in a R&GV mug Flo. PC you feel old? Hey, you still got a long way to go to warrant that title…[:-^][;)]

I spent last evening at my son’s house. The celebration was pretty calm as several of the people who have traditionally been there didn’t come due to the weather. My DIL’s mother, her uncle and her brother and girlfriend were the only other people to show up. Three of them left before midnight to either drop in at other parties or go home to go to bed (her mom had been at work since 5:30 yesterday morning and was a bit tired). So there were just 4 of us witness the horror of Dick Clark ushering in yet another year. Before that we watched 3 hours of “Dog Whisperer” on National Geographic Channel and some other stuff that we have to pay money to have invade our homes these days. They also played a new board game for an hour or so. I did make several New Years Resolutions not to buy several products due to their ridiculous TV ads… I will probably keep those as I have never bought any of those products anyway. [:-^] We had a glass of bubbly and then I drove home and went to bed.

Hope that all your dreams for this New Year may come true (especially if they involve peace and joy for all people)!

I don’t usually ride below 40F, so I’ll go a bit cooler then he will. I’ve got decent cold weather gear and a full face helmet though.

That’s why I chose NOT to live up north. I like the mild Louisiana winters.

Howmus,

Bubbly… I can’t believe it. Where’s your regional loyalty. [(-D] Here I am in Pittsburgh and served some really nice wines from Prejean’s, Torrey Ridge and Glenora over the Christmas and New Year’s Eve festivities at our house. Looks like I will have to make an extra wine run late this Spring to replenish my stocks. Wishing the S.L.O.W. and all the others a very Happy New Year.

Tom

Oh we make “Bubbly” right here in the Finger Lakes! Not sure what I was served last night as I didn’t see the bottle but I wouldn’t be surprised that it was local.[swg]

Tom, you have excellent taste in wines BTW! Let me know when you come up to replenish your stocks and I will give you a tour of the SLOW.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Good Morning all. Biscuits and suasage garvy please and Thank you. Well what happened over there?

Boy did I have a rough one last night. Went bowling at a Scotch doubles tournament at 6:30, 8:30 at a local Mexican restaraunt for supper, back to our local “lounge” to wish New Years to friends, and home by 11:00. In bed by 12:15. Don’t know how I handle this wild lifestyle.

[#welcome] To the diner Scott. How are things this year up in “Yah hey der land”. ( Friend of mine from Wisconson called it that).

Hopefully I’ll get to work on the layout today. Even if it’s just for a few minutes. Seems like the thing to do.

Wishiing everyone a prosperous and wonderful New Year. As we reflect on our loses of last year, let us not forget our blessings. And I realize that I am preaching to the choir here.

Phillip no one could have said it better. After what you have just gone through at the time that you went through it, Someone definately was there with you.[angel]. It gives your comments even more meaning. I am humbled by your strength and faith.

Oh and can I get a cup of coffee please Zoe or is it Chloe? I get you two mixed up. I’ll get it straight someday.

Todd.

Ray,

Thanks for the invitation. I will take you up on that.

Tom
