Hey, slide in a bit there. Chloe, that sounds good! I’ll have the same! Thanks!
Good Morning Campers!
Nice hot cup of Jave to shake the chill!
Yes we had a good coat of frost this morning and when I went for my 6 mile bike ride (in shorts) I realized how brisk that N’ly wind actually was[:O] Yes Lee she was C-C-Cold!
Ya we’ll wait and see! Today I went with Titans to win and Raiders to lose[X-)] Considering some of my pics were sure winners it’s a “Anything goes” situation.
Anyway I have the rest of the Fire wood to stack today then lay done the Lime on the Lawn then… Ya it never ends! Don’t know if anyone saw my thread on Pipe Spline the other day but I hope to get some more work on that today if at all possible.
Jeff and Robby: I looked at the Steelers but considering some of the other “sure bets” I chose and got torpedoed with I said No, No way! This is day they will lose! Of course i see Chloe has put “Crow” back on the Fall menu[C=:-)] ya my favourite!
Mitch: It’s a road I’ve been down before an not an easy one. This is when you have to “Make Like a Duck” and let the water roll off you. As hurtful as loved ones can be I put it down to frustration and fear. And not knowing the full scope of your situation it’s a hard one to talk about in an open forum. I would suggest a pastor or councillor as if you don’t get the proper help this could eat you up on the inside. Anyway just my [2c]
Well everyone I got to get some work done!

Good morning
We have company in town from Chicago area. This is a “best friend” who grew up with me and also has been a model railroader his entire life. He and his wife are staying at the nearby state resort park although we had asked them to staye here at the house.
Here’s an update on the crime I had mentioned in a previous post. One of my friends here is a retired police officer, and he obtained information before the media did. Four family members were stabbed and their house was set on fire. Three children died a five year old boy and two teen age girls. The mother was found with a knife stuck in her neck and has been in ICU at the hospital ever since. State police handled the investigation with the sheriff, and they were assisted by ATF agents and the Army MP’s from Fort Campbell close the crime scene. Later, a burned out Direct TV van was found with bloody clothing in it. The Direct TV installer was later arrested, and he confessed to the crimes. He had raped the mother and one of the girls. The motive was that he asked the mother on a date. When she refused he became enraged and committed the crimes. If convicted, he may get the death penalty.
On that note, I’ll get ready for company.
Have a nioce day.
Mornin’ All. I’m on my wayback to the show to help with the Naptown Club. So I’ll take the Flying Special Since the pic from last night didn’t load, here’s mine of the Class 52

And that other really cute engine I was talking about

Here’s an update on the coaling station project. I’ve got some of the rafters in. After they’ve dried sufficiently they’ll be painted a nice weathered gray.

Good Morning Diners!
Frosty here too this morning, but not a killer on the ground, as far as we can see from the tomatoes. In fact it was 2°C by the front door when I got up, despite the frosty grass. The Truro Train Show was more interesting than last year (from my viewpoint) as there was a fair amount of N both on sale and as layouts. Fergie, I saw your diner on an N layout! One store had an overstock of used N rolling stock and locos. Everything 50% off the sticker price. I nearly went for a Kato six axel something or other for $25, but I don’t want any more six axels, and I would only have to decoder it. I did get a ConCor Japanese made (Kato?) coach with Kadee (pre-Micro Trains) trucks with the adjustable drawbar length for $5.00. I don’t need the coach really, but the trucks were irresistible, and I can use them on a Rivarossi coach that is giving some grief. If I do decide to run the coach as is (well repainted for MT) I think I’ll have my Baggage RDC pull it; that might look interesting.
On cleaning the wheels last night I discovered that the wheels and axels are separate, the axels having spindle ends on which the wheels fit, with a stop where the axel thickens, to keep perfect gauge. I hate to think what those puppies are new nowadays.
Hey, Chloe, do you have any Biscuits and Gravey left? That sounds great with coffee, thanks.
Looks like my clock is different that the one on the forum. After breakfast, we will get back into the train room. Larry is working on the girders for his trestle. Maybe I will take some photos.
Later, Sue
Morgan: Thanks for the photos. Interesting power. On finding old Diners on the Forum, I thought that looking at my old posts in “My Profile” might take me there, but it seems that only posts in this current Diner (or this current remade cs.trains.com/trccs/forums/ ) are available…rats!
Der John: I thought about going to the Truro show as it is a good one, far better then the Dartmouth/Halifax shows but didn’t feel like going by myself anyway I still have this old link so enjoy!

Hi folks. Going to Aiken’s Fair today (YES!!!).
I was watching the Barret-Jackson collector car auction yesterday, and what should be lot #777 but a live steam Union Pacific 4-8-4 coal-burning loco complete w/ 4 coaches and a half-mile of track. I forget what it sold for.
Hi There! [:D]
I thought I check in and revive my old account while saying hello to some of
the visitors to the prehistoric Coffee Shop, [:)] I see some familiar names passing by!
also Hi to everyone keeping this forum alive
take care and stay safe!
cheers
L UP O
Hello sports fans,
Flo, I’ll have a carafe of plain black coffee to go. Only have time for a quick post-n-run, I’m in the process of ballasting the track in my engine terminal; not terribly difficult, just S-L-O-W and tedious. Now I can see why Loathar always says how much he hates ballasting!
This isnt railroading ralated but this is a sunrise this morning while duck hunting.

Afternoon, Janie, Diners. I’ll have a root beer float
and some cheesey fries, please.
Thanks!
Robby, great job on the trees, and that chainlink fence looks like it’s been there a lonnnng while. Might want a touch of rust here and there, perhaps (knowing how you like the stuff…).[;)] Oh, yeah, I like your gondola, too - may need to make one of mine that decrepit. [yeah]
Killing frost warning this morning. (I walked right up to the frost this morning and I’m still here).
[(-D]
Lee, you’re wearing me out, just reading all the stuff you did this weekend![wow] Any pics of all those cars (on WPF or in here?). Inquiring minds (who’d like some great ideas/inspiration, that is) and all that… Hope you did well on your auctions! [tup]
And Mitch, hope your auction on the car does well, too - how long will yours be running for that? It’s no easy road when health problems (or memory, or not being able to make oneself understood, etc.) start up. Hang in there, and know that you’re doing what you can (as you’ve told your Mom). Funny pic with your monkeys - hey, who says animals can’t be railfans, anyway?[}:)]
Garry, our [angel][angel] for the mother and other family members (not in the house at the time). I’d think life in prison wouldn’t be quite fair enough for that guy. But that’s just my [2c]
Jeff, love what you’re doing with that coaling tower - the aluminum roof is coming along ni
Good afternoon, Diners. I thought that I would stop by for one of Jim’s famous RBF’s.
Afternoon, Janie, Diners. I’ll have a root beer float
Sue - Larry’s about ready to finish up his trestle? Is that the one to the logging camp that you’ve been waiting on, or something new?
Jim, He is getting closer, and yes, it is to the logging camp. He got the girders made and the bents to hold them. Isn’t that life? Watching glue dry. The next stage will be to stain them, and glue them in place.
I spent the better part of the day working on my Walthers coaling tower. I had started it is April when I was sick, and lost interest. I am moving along again. It is probably too detailed for someone’s first kit. But you know me, I realize that after it is too late.[#oops]
Later, Sue
PS. You knew that I would like the NP 40’.

Evening All…we hit the low 60’s this afternoon posta drop back into upper 30’s tonite…I’ll have a cup of Coco and a dougnut please…Thank You…I have a Wabash FA doing laps…Looks like the Colts are losing…You all have a good evening…Jerry
Hey folks-I’m going to call it an early nite, so stopping in now for some quick java.
I have no idea why I’m hitting the sack early, since I’m taking some vacation time this week. But Dawn’s already in bed, so I might poke around on the comp a bit then hit it. Actually I’m waiting to see if a fellow posts on my weathering forum about ID of a covered hopper I had got a proto pic of.
Cape Jim, the auction will run for a week, starting tonight at 10. I really hope I can get it sold as it’ll take a lot of $$$ pressure off of me. My only wish is that it was a rare big block or Hemi car, but then again, I wouldn’t have been able to afford to buy it in the 1st place in 1986, as that’s when the prices on those started to skyrocket.
I couldn’t resist sharing that pic-I was tempted to label them from L-R; Tony, Mitch, Rex. (2 guys I railfan with-Tony’s just completing his conductor training with CSX right now at Willard & working yard jobs)
I went to see Mom a few hours ago-she’s ok & in good spirits this evening. I think (at least I hope) that she’s realizing that I’ll do what I can to help her, & giving me a difficult time isn’t going to help things.
I also talked to a friend of mine’s daughter online last night, who’s in her 1st year of college. I told her about my Mom, & said she’s going to try to stop in & see her. Her dad & I grew up down the street from each other, & her mom is an employee where I work. Her dad was nearby when we were talking, & he’s going to try to stop by here sometime this week, as I haven’t seen him in a year or 2. Upon reflection, it’s by God’s grace that this young lady is talking to me, as she has had the odds stacked against her terribly healthwise at a young age. About the age of 5 or 6, it was found she had a rare & virulent form of cancer, which somehow to the doctors’ amazement, she beat, & has been in remission ever since. & if that wasn’t bad enough, she had other health problems, including
Evening,
Went to the Sold Out “Boo at the Zoo” tonight with Dorothy.
Here is one of the projects I completed today; this is the lumber yard I bought at the train show for under $20. I took it apart as much as possible, re-painted, and assembled and lettered it using my ALPS printer to make the water slide decals.

Jim, I’m still working on the (wood sided) refrigerator cars (7), I’m painting them with CSX yellow and it’s a very thin color.
Man, I LOVE THE FAIR!!! For me, the best part is the rides. I also spent $12 and got me two great little airsoft guns.
Morgan, that Type 52 is different - are those cooling fans on the tender? You have my curiosity up, all right!
What’s the story on that engine?
Actually, the story is that I was told wrong. The engine is in fact a Borsig, and possibly the largest Drawing Board loco never built. The fans are part of a Condenser. Steam was piped off the exhauset, run the length of the engine, and vented into the tender to be condensed back into water, since liquid water is a better coolant than air is. The fans on top are cooling fans that further help the process. Teh Borsig was never built, but similar cooling tenders had an economy rating of 85% more water and 15% more coal efficent than a typical steam locomotive. I’ve alsop read them as being compared mechaically to the heat tiles on the space3 shuttle
Evening Gang: The weekend at the Gaylord Texan was very nice. That place is huge. The atrium must cover 5 acres. They have 5 different G gauge train layouts, one was in the shape of a guitar. We had a really good breakfast this morning. Custom made omlets bacon, sausage, fruit, rolls, coffee, and orange juice. To top it off it was all you can eat. I did manage to control myself.
Robby those are really good looking trees. Tell you wife that she can do chain link fence for the whole crowd here. I likt the way it is kind of bent and used or damaged. That is a really great effect.
Ken it’s good to see you back over on this side of the street. One of these days I’ll go DCC also but first I need a layout that warrants it. I have three locomotives that have decorders and when I buy new ones I’m getting decorders in them.
Well it’s getting late and I’m sore and tired.
Good Night All
