I backed up the old Coffee shop onto a CD-ROM last night.
Lee, here is a picture of my gravel parking lot. (Ignore the tunnel portal)
First I spread white glue around with a we brush. Then, using a spoon, sprkinled on the gravel, getting it fairly thick in the front. I ran an HO scale car around in it making tire marks and stuff like that. Spray it thoroughly with rubbing alcohol, the cheapest kind you can get. I prefer this over “Wet Water”. Then soak the entire area with a 50/50 mix of white glue and water to bond it all together. After about an hour you can work the gravel around A LITTLE but not much, just to smooth out places you don’t like. Let it dry and there you have it.
The gravel is #50 screening from a local brick company.
We get the stuff free in all different sizes like ballast and for the main road.
Hope this helps.

Soumodeler, Looks good, What is #50 screening made of? I really like the salt and pepper look of your #50. Plus free is always good, LOL. I use white rain hair spray instead of the rubbing alcohol. I have a Dollar General store walking distance from my house. Its $1 for a bottle and it works great and comes in a pump bottle. You just have to look at the ingredients to make sure alcohol is the first ingredient. The rest of the ingredients help glue and give it the beat down look. Your parking lot looks really good. Lee
I think the screening is used on the face of the bricks to create a rough texture. I first thought it was used on cinder blocks but they don’t make thoses there. We are going to get some more soon and I will try and find out then.
Duke- You are right. We all owe Elliot a big Thankyou.
Fergie- You have the right idea. What better way to say thanks ?
James- What do you think?
Flip
Fergie I think that is a great idea and would second it[8D][tup][yeah]
Duke
Well then all in favor say I and we’ll get james to do it.
Mornin’ all!
Happy New Year to everyone!
So, everyone ready to overdose on some football today?
And, do you know where there’s a spare seat in the place? What a crowd in here.

Hey wait a minute I resent that remark it was either one of us that got the black eye for pinching chole when she bent over was it flip
Ha!
The last guy what pinched me …
Isn’t there an ongoing thread about stub terminals? [:-^]
Lynda
By the way Lynda as stated earlier I collect/ run O gauge mainly pre and post war lionel do have some of the newer stuff but when I get my railroad built it will be a fictitious one around VA., MD., TN., & N.C. and run N&W, Southern, Virginian & B&O. It will be between 8’ X 13’ down to 7’ X13’ depending on how much room I need for my desk/chest freezer to share the room lol.
But normally I’ve found out the one to watch is the one telling you to watch out for someone lol
Good Morning, TD’ers! I’ll have what Jeff’s having, Zoe, but hold the eggs. I eat those later in the day than breakfast. Thanks, Lee - good of you to buy for the morning crew. [;)]

Lynda
Well, looks like Lynda will be able to hold her own with the unruly ones here. But RT is correct - I believe he and PC … uh, haven’t been caught pinching the help yet. And Flip could tell you more about that matter (that’s all I’m gonna say about that now!).[oops]
Walking in the Diner, I was trying to figure if Duke was sleeping (as usual) over there, or passed out. We’ll see if he has a hangover when he wakes up. [}:)][;)][:-^][:-^][:-^]
Started a little more work this morning, on that Walthers modular office building I mentioned. Might have the basic structure finished today. But I’m going to paint the windows Antique White instead of the green that Walthers used on the plastic. (Guess they must’ve got a good price on green…) After I get most of that done, probably some more cleaning, vaccuuming and straightening (way past due around my place).
Well, I don’t think those things are going to get themselves done, so I’ll be heading out. See you all later.
Blessings,
Jim in Cape Girardeau
Oh, almost forgot - I second the idea of “Elliot’s Trackside Diner”. [tup] What’cha think, OzJim?
…and I’m out of here.
Jim in Cape Girardeau
HERE it is. I must have written the new addy down incorrectly as I ended up here:
I thought it was odd when no one showed up!
So is the discussion as to what form of tractive power we are selecting for the TD?
And as for turbines, best invention ever made! Possibly not best for locomotives but they work like a champ for pushing subs throught the water. 2 Turbines about the size of an f-250 each can deliver 30,000+ hp. Hard to beat if ya ask me
Not sure if we need any locomotive power as I believe the dinner is going to stay put now but I thought when the girls got this place it was going to be 2 dining cars not one ? Guess the second one is still comming from over in the unused cars (the ones for demo )
Good New Year to All!! Its a cool cloudy morning here…I’ll have a pork burger, onion rings and a root beer float please…Great to see all visiting the new digs…Sallie and I watched the Garrison Keilior special on PBS last night it was pretty good and I am a big fan of him…Sallie had to get back up at 4:45 to go to Dialysis when she left I went back to bed and slept till 10:30 hadn’t slept that late for years…They say what you do today you will do the rest of the year??Soumodeler…Nice job on the parking lot…What is the building going to be?..Lee…Ditto on White Rain hair spray I use it to fix ground foam to polyfiber for trees and like you said can’t beat the price…Hope to get Christmas tree down tuesday so I can get Layout uncovered and back in operation…Got a LL FA from Ebay thats not supose to run and I am itching to tear into it and see if I can get it running again…You all have a good one…Jerry
The building is Walther’s State Line Farm Supply. I am going to change it to a more of hardware/general-ish store like the modern Tractor Supply Co. Put some interior walls in and do a bit of detailing and get a couple of pickup trucks.

I will have to try the white rain stuff.
But does it hold enough not to have to put dilueted white glue down too?
