Elliotts Trackside Diner III

Hi all

Bergie asked us to remodel , so the baby and I started this newly painted dinner for everyone. Hope you all enjoy this one also.

Kevin and Mika

Hi Guys,

Any word on how Elliot is doing? Has he improved? I certainly miss his posts.

Well I put a fresh pot of coffee on, I hope the smell brings everyone back in.

Lee

Darn, beat me to it.

We wear down diners quickly now, lol.

Well it seems Chloe isn’t here yet.

Oh good, PC’s card is still here though.

Mine.

Off to get some pizza,

Mark

OOOOOPS

Sorry Lee made the coffee, I will set the apple pie out. When Ryan gets here he can start those wonderful menus all over. Mika is in the kitchen with her big sister making pop pop (popcorn) for those older than two (lol). She will also bring in the cool aid.

Colby unfortunatly I had to work this past Sat so I missed the train show in Augusta.

Hope you all get some pie before PC.

Kevin

That’s fine Bergie. BTW, you are welcome to visit. And of course, have coffee… or perhaps some of Ryan’s “Lean Cuisine” diners.

Good Evening Coffee Clubbers,

Another beautiful day down here in Paradise. [8D] I enjoyed it as the forecast for tomorrow isn’t as good. Supposed to get up to 90º tomorrow. Definitely a/c time. In fact, I predict we’re going to turn it on again tonight.

No progress on the layout today, bummer. My excuse was the weekly shopping trip, a dentist appointment, and, of course, a nap. [zzz] I’m good at excuses. The dentist appointment wasn’t too bad. Reconstruction of a tooth where some old (and large) fillings had started to loosen. At least I have a great dentist.

It’s only partly cloudy here, so we will see if we will see (just a play on words) anything of the lunar eclipse tonight. We did catch the last one that occurred here. (Edit) Just came in from watching the eclipse. No cloud cover so we got a pretty good view. We don’t plan on waiting up for it to start appearing again.

Actually, I normally get up at 06:15 and we go for a long walk, leaving the house around 07:00. I just don’t normally post here that early! I could really go for a nice piece of aged angus beef. You can’t find anything like that where we live, although they do have great steak places in the big cities like Mexico City.

Not much else to add tonight. Catch up with you tomorrow.

Hasta mañana,

Ed

Did someone mention PIE!

I smell fresh . Fill me up, please & thank you!

Lunar eclipse in full swing here. Can see it clearly between passing clouds. Have a great night all. [C):-)] Rob

love the new place

i’ll get the tea ready

Did PC say pie?..I’ll have a slice of apple with ice cream and cheese…please…Thank Youlike the new place…Jerry

Ok all -

I made it in here too!

Ed - This will be my 1st Red Sox game @ Fenway. When I was stationed in San Diego back in the 90’s w/ the Marines, a buddy of mine would always get us tix to see them in Anaheim, so I got my taste of them back then.

JimCG - I think I’ve got her won over already. We’re already talking about buying a house come this fall after I get back from Iraq.

Well all, time for bed…

Take care!

I’ll have a slice,thanks.

Stayed up past my bedtime, eclipse is about halfway.Absolutely clear(and cold),and you never know when you’ll catch another one.

As a between jobs contractor, I hereby offer my help on the remodel.

Terry

Evening Gang: I hope that the steaks made it over from the old place. I’ll have one of those cowboy grilled babys.

Mary Ann and I went into Ft. Worth this evening. I took her to a steak house for dinner. Actually her’s was free for her birthday tomorrow. The steaks were very good and I had a glass of wine. No I’m not going to say how old she will be. I like life and health too much. I got all the dirt moved today. I could still use a couple of hundred yards more but I’ll make do.

JP when are you due to ship out? I don’t remember you mentioning going to the sand box.

Well I think that I’ll hit the sack.

Good Night All

Hi everybody. Since I don’t like pie (as much as other deserts), I’ll have a slice of triple chocolate cake.

Actually, make that quadruple chocolate!

Kinda surprising to see the diner was shut down after so little posts.

Gotta fly before the sugar rush kicks in…!

Tried to get some work done on something today. Meant to stop at the hobby shop today and pick up a few turnouts to do some planning with. I can only sketch or doodle so much. Trackplanning for me was always more of a full size arrangement. But I was feeling kinda sleepy after work, so I just went home.

In the meantime, I’m pretty eager to get my hands dirty again. I’ve got 19.5 by 53.5 inches (such odd dimensions, wouldn’t you agree?) on top of my entertainment center that I noticed would make for a nice place to build a diorama. I mean the floor space is already eaten up so its not like I need to figure out how I’m going to make room for it. There’s a little area about a mile from me that would make a nice scene and can almost be reconstructed at full scale in the available space. Length-wise anyhow. Depth on the other hand has to be sacrificed. An acceptable trade for the most part. I attempted to begin construction of a one quarter size mock-up of it from cardstock, but lost interest once I got hungry. If the weather cooperates tomorrow, I might head over and have a look with my eyeballs instead of my memory. Although I dread the idea of driving the mile just for that. For whatever reason this week’s tank of gas is burning through faster than average and right after gas jumped a whole 11 cents in two days. Figures. But I do have some errands to run and its on the way.

Since its going to be at least until summer before I start working on the “big” layout, I’m reluctant to order a whole bunch of cork from the internet. I figure I can just track down a sheet of cork somewhere like at Lowe’s and cut it into strips myself. Where would I find such cork? I mean, I know they make it in regular sheets. I used to have a piece as a corkboard that was pretty big but I have no idea where it came from.

Hey, Chloe, Jerry, Gavin (Sleeper33), everyone! Yeah, I just followed my nose to the smell of the pie - I see PC’s busy with the Key Lime pie. I’ll have a slice of the apple with some ice cream on top,

and a cup of coffee, please.

Oh, you like the new mugs? I guess our servers ordered them and got 'em in just before we moved the Diner over to the new track.

[#welcome] to the Diner, Sleeper33 (Gavin)! Glad to have you in the Diner - I’ll treat for a beverage of your choice, and looks like Kevin got the TOP honors, so he’ll cover your munchies on this page. [:)]

Warning to my neighbors/neighbours to the east and north of me - we’re supposed to be getting .01 to .25 inches of ice/snow mix between now and Friday evening. Might be a rehash of our nasty weather of last week. Hopefully, it’ll come down as snow instead of as ice. We don’t need any more downed branches, lost power, etc., thanks! Better make sure you have a fairly full gas tank on your vehicle and enough food at home, folks! [:O] Oh, our admin. people today at w**k put out a memo listing the radio stations that will carry our ‘closed due to weather’ notice if we’re closed tomorrow. Guess they’re

Thanks for the welcome Jim

i’ll have a mug of tea with you if that’s alright.

Am new to this establishment so how’s it all work?

and please call me Gav

Well, I see a few more folks dropped in while I was w**king on my pie. Almost a party, except I haven’t noticed anyone swinging from the lights (yet)… [;)]

JP, I guess I’m with Paul, and had missed it - when will you be shipping to the sandbox? Once you get back and get the house, that should give you more room for the layout (or will you be designing the layout and looking for a house that’s big enough to build over it?). [swg]

Paul, I don’t blame you a bit for not ratting out Mary Ann on her age. As you said, you like life just fine, thanks! [(-D]

Terry, I’m sure the twins will take you up on your offer of help with the remodeling. There might be some things that need a little patching that shifted in the move here, too. Just ask Chloe and I’m sure she’ll tell you where to go (help)… [:-^][:-^][:-^]

Kevin/CPRail - Bergie probably wanted to get the Diner moved quickly so the forums(fora?) would stay running smoothly. Maybe we’ve been posting more pics lately and that tipped things toward a new Diner sooner, too. Good to see you back, by the way.[:)]

Nick/Nittany Lion, you probably could have your layout/diorama overhang the entertainment center a bit and make it a 20 or 24 inch by 54 inch size. Started any sketches for the trackplan yet?

Gav<
