Elmer's Gel School Glue vs Whte Glue vs Yellow Carpenters Glue

I want to create “permanent” sand piles in my sand house sandbox and inside the building in two “bins” I made for both wet sand and dried sand. In all three, I established a base of floral foam, to offset the need for a great quantity of sand. I noticed my high-schooler using a bottle of Elmers Shool Glue that is a gel. Has anyone used this in a diluted form, and if so, what mix ratio? What is the best glue for creating a “sand pile”?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Use Elmer’s white glue mixed 50/50 with water or rubbing alcohol and a drop or two of liquid dish detergent. This type usually dries clear unless you use too much.

I have never used the gel school glue but don’t think it could be thinned with water. The yellow carpenter’s glue is for gluing wood to wood and dries with a glossy sheen.

The school glue will start breaking down after 6-8 months. Don’t use it. The Elmer’s white glue mixed 50/50 with water or alcohol will work well.

Elmers White: Casein type, a milk by-product [remember Elsie, the Borden’s Cow?].

Yellow Carpenter’s: Polyvinyl chloride [a chemically-created formula].

Have no knowledge of the third type listed. TTFN…papasmurf in NH
