I need an HO gauge Elvis figure. A search at Walthers brings up nothing useful. I’ve thought of Preiser’s “Vampire” figure (because it has a cape) with dark hair, a white suit and some Blue Seude Shoes. Any other ideas?
Wouldn’t any 'ol hobo wearing big wired rimmed dark sunglasses holding a box of jelly doughnuts work ?? Thank you very much !
My wife and were at Graceland (Memphis) a few months ago and right across the street are over a dozen souviner/gift shops with every piece of Elvis memorabilia one can imagine. I just don’t have any store names for you but willing to bet a yellow page directory search, or Google search will find them.

I looked at the Walthers catalogue and found nothing that would suit you. The Vampire figure is probably your best bet and it even has a scarf.
I thought I found one for you, be he had left the building.
Ok. Somebody has to ask…
Why?
Well, it started with a DPM structure, the First National Bank. It’s kind of a generic building, and DPM’s don’t come with much in the way of name plates, anyway. So, it’s been a no-name building sitting there on my layout for some time. A couple of months ago, I had a bit of spare time so I built an awning for it, just to spice it up, and I started thinking about an “identity” for this building.
I checked out some of the Miller Engineering signs, and decided on the animated “Hotel” model. Next, I needed a name, and the “Heartbreak Hotel” came to mind. I’ve already changed the address on the awning to 13 Lonely Street, and I’ve got a hound dog, but I really think that The King should be there in person.
Dont forget the Cadillac and a shot out TV set…
Hi all,
I had the same problem finding a Waldo in HO scale. Painting a red and white stripped shirt in HO is more than I can do so, I ended up using a photo rescaled to the right size and put it looking out the window of a building. So any kids who come to see my layout have a Where’s Waldo competition, it keeps them busy for ages and they spot lots of other details while they’re looking for Waldo.
BTW in Oz he’s not called Waldo but Wally just like UK does.
Perhaps you can do the same and say “Elvis has not left the building”
Cheers
My brother is an Elvis nut… (No lie and yes it can be kind of embarrassing when starts talking about the pilgrimages to Grace Land like he is visiting Mecca) I’ll ask him, if any body knows he would.
He once told me a sad story about Elvis, After he was released from the military he had developed a fascination with German Model Trains, and had collected several pieces and was planning on building a layout in Graceland. Col Parker refused, and told him that people would think he was nuts if they found out he was collecting Toy Trains “It just ain’t cool boy” he said. Later Col Parker found out that Carl Perkins had set up a Slot Car track at his home, so he told Elvis that he could do that. It’s still there at Graceland today.
It’s got to suck to be owned like that. I think Elvis would have been happier if Col Parker would have let him have his Trains.
i would like to see what you did for your delimma or if you found one. i am in the same spot you were in. having ElvisFest for my mother. he is on stage singing away. just those funny little things that make trains fun.
Thanks
If anybody else has an idea let me know too

Just a thought from an Elvis fan (but not fanatic) is maybe “model” him in the way he was known in the mid to late 50’s. IMO that’s the Elvis I like to remember-when he was completely on top of his game, & I would think it would probably “mesh” better with your Heartbreak Hotel theme.
Woodland Scenics has a set (Walthers #785-1849) called “Rebels” that appear to have a few characters that may fit the bill with slight modfications.
Yes, I did manage to create an Elvis. I took the Preiser “Vampire” figure and repainted him:
Someone pointed out that he could also be mistaken for Liberace. But if he is Liberace, then where’s the candalabra, huh?
And here, he takes his place in front of the Heartbreak Hotel. There’s a hound dog next to his blue suede shoes.
That’s terrific, Mr B! … Don’t be cruel …
…and there’s a pretty little thing, waitin’ for The King, up in the Jungle Room…
Yeah, Mel Brooks was right. It’s good to be the king.
Don’t forget to have a recording of “Heartbreak Hotel” playing… Personally I’ve always liked Stan Freberg’s version.[:-^][;)][:D]
That came out pretty darn good Mr. B!
Thinking about it, the “later” Elvis as yours is would be more recognizable anyways.
Stan Freberg’s version? hmm-I glad to hear someone knows about that one. “Ripped my jeans…third pair today.”
This thread got me in the mood, so I put on my Elvis collection & went to work on my F7B. (well, it IS coming up on the 31st anniversary of his death Saturday-how time flies.)
much thanks for the idea eeyore, it is the one i am choosing to do.
just paint his clothes white with a small drybrush of gold and away we go.
i had just found the set also, as for Elvis (impersonator) is singing for the ElvisFest Car show attendees at Bob’s Hot Dog Stand.
I’ll post picts when i get it done (two weeks)
thanks

I’d make the scarf a different color from the cape - remember, he went thru 100’s of scarfs during a concert. He’d wear them for a few seconds then give them to somebody in the audience.
