Embedding YouTube vids in posts

Finally got a YouTube account because I thought I read somewhere that you could embed YouTube vids in the posts here (as opposed to just linking to another site).

I was playing around with it (even found the right-click “copy embed html” option), but couldn’t figure out how to paste/embed in a post.

Any tricks?

Thanks!

Very easy. I open a second browser, find the video in You Tube, copy the URL of the video and paste it into a message. It becomes a link.

Many people have done that in these forums. I did that a few weeks ago about a You Tube video that shows some enclosed hopper cars being overturned by a tornado.

I post a video now and then, only way I know to do it is post the link

Doubtful if webmaster would let you post a video on this site, but I might be wrong.

Embedding the YouTube video player in the body of the post similar to photos is not possible on this, or any other forum I know of. You can only post links to videos.

Embedding videos is for websites and blogs, like this example.

Much to my surprise, it seems to have embedded itself in my WPF post on trainboard. Here and on modelrailroadforums, all I could get was the link.

When I post the YouTube vid as a link on Trainboard & click “submit”, the link turns into an embedded vid right there in the post.

Just wondering if something like that happens here, but I guess not.
Oh, well!
At least I’m not the Missing Link

Thanks!

How do you embed the YouTube video so it shows up like a picture with the play “arrow” button in the middle?

That is the question we have been asking…and none of us so far is able to come up with an answer. I know I don’t have one. No idea why trainboard’s system enables it and our software here won’t.
