I grew up in Ridgewood, NJ on the then 4 track main line in the 40’s and 50’s. I loved to watch the Twin Cities Limited blast past the BJ tower. There was a set out track at the end of our street and often there was a box car with a hot box sitting there. We climbed all over it until the tower man hollered at us an we ran. The commuter trains always got us covered with cinders as they pulled out of the station as we ant to high school. I loved to see those pacifica billowing steam and smoke as they pulled away on their daily run the NYC.
