I got my January MRR yesterday and is my habit went through it last night. For me the article on the 1st Place Winner for the Build a Scene contest was really timely. I’m in the early stages of designing what will be my first permanent layout. Right now I have a 5x13 layout based upon NMRA HO standards modules. My wife and I bought our retirement home in Florida and I’m getting my own train room that will allow a 9x10 walk-in layout with a liftup. Trying to fit all of the scenic or operating elements that you want in any smaller layout is always the challenge. Gerry Leone’s backwater burg solves one problem for me. I can have a town without taking up too much space and can eliminate all of the the sidewalks, traffic lights, etc. I’m looking forward to the rest of the article.
