Evans ?

Recently, I saw an ad for a Lionel Evans Auto-loader # 6414. Would this car be considered a standard “O” guage or the smaller traditional “O-27” guage? For future reference, what do you think would be a good rule-of-thumb to determine if the car would be best suitable for “O-27”? Thank you.

Lionel, O-27. K-Line offered one that was scale or very close to it.

chuckn: Thanks. I was really interested in size rather than scale. Appreciate your answer.

Lionel , K-Line, Weaver, Atlas, etc will state right on the box “O Scale” while the MTH Premier line is O scale, too. Anything else should fit 027 easily like Lionel, K-line, Williams, Industrial Rail, MTH Railking. Anything questionable you should look for a Minimum Radius on the box.

It’s a bit larger than most O27 cars, and rather tall. Even so, it looks okay with both O27 sized pieces and 6464 sized pieces. I’m not in a position at the moment to measure mine, but I’d be glad to do so later.

The prototype car was based on a 53 foot flat car and could carry six automobiles (13" long). The Lionel version is sitting on a slightly shorter car (11") based on an older style 39’ flat car. Both cars can operate on O-27 curves.

GOT IT! Thanks again.
