Does anyone out there have the exact address of the NS burns harbor yard? I know how to get there but I’m trying to figure out which route is better for me to take time wise that is the toll rod or 94
Thanks
Rich

My suggestion would be the Toll Road to Indiana 49, north to U.S. 12 and go from there.
(And don’t be in such a rush–plenty to see around Chesterton and along 12!)
US 12 is usually within 200-300 yards of the South Shore main line (and occasionally closer) between Gary and Michigan City.
Don’t know which direction you are coming from but the I-94 construction is finally done after 7 years. It is now four lanes from the state line to I-65. I’m cheap so I wouldn;t pay the tolls on the toll road. I would also get off at the Portage/Burns Harbor exit at state route 249 and go north. It will make a right and a left turn. Take the lane going to US12 rather than the port of Indiana at the left hand turn and you will be about 1/4 mile east of the west end when it dead ends into US 12.
I like your directions (and the rebuilt highway!) for coming from the city, but the originator apparently lives in Elkhart, so is coming from the other way. I wouldn’t expect him to jump off the Toll Road to save money on 94 from the east, since getting from one to the other takes time anywhere east of Burns Harbor, and the further east you go the more time it takes.
Thanks for they help everyone I didn’t get any replies before I left So I took the toll road there and 94 home the times actually showed that 94 is about 10 to 15 minutes quicker from elkhart
Thaks again for all of your help
