A heads up to those of you in the UK that the History Channel (and History HD) is beginning to show Extreme Trains, the series that began late last year in the US, here starting at 9.00pm tonight and on History+1 at 10.00pm. I know what I’ll be watching on TV tonight!
It wwill be interesting to get the take of the British Railfans; especially in light of the various comments written on this topic in this FORUM…
I wonder what they think of the over-active, enthusiastic Conductor will be, as well.

My sentiments exactly, I’ll have to be sure and track this one !
Well, watched it last night and thought it was fantastic. They started the series with the episode about the Acela, which I have been on so really, really enjoyed it! The format here has an English woman doing all the voiceover stuff and the presenter doing his bit. I didn’t find him annoying in the least, he just seemed really enthusiastic and I bet any of his detractors would be just as excited and enthusiastic if they got a ride in the Acela’s cab.
Next week it’s coal trains! looking forward to it already!
I’ve been in the “Fireman’s Seat” on the Acela at speed. I talked quietly to the Amtrak Manager standing behind me. Only talked to the Engineer when the train was standing. I enjoyed the once in a lifetime ride, but I knew what to expect, Amtrak ran me through safety and evacuation training first.
The host of Extream Trains is a very “unprofessional” railroad man.
I have to concur with those who find the host’s over-the-top presentation style irritating, but obviously the show is aimed at a wider audience than enthusiasts, and anything which gets more kids interested in trains can only be a good thing. That said, I look forward to future episodes.

Can you post, provide a link, or e-mail a larger size file or clearer image of the control panel photo in your post above ? It’s really neat ! Of course, I didn’t see that panel shown or explained on the Extreme Trains “Amtrak Acela” episode (before I turned it off and went to bed - both times).
Either way, thanks for posting at least this one !
