F unit-led train tour coming up for Vancouver Island in April
Actually, this is likely the first time ever for an F-unit on Vancouver Island. The train 50 years ago was led by a pair of steam generator equipped GP9s. Normal CP road diesel power on the line were BLW DRS-4-4-1000 units until replaced by GP9s in the 1970s, and later GP38s. Conventional passenger service was provided by RDCs after the mid 1950s. The excursion this time is very local, only covering a few miles.
