Faller Car System

Does anybody out there know any HO scale model train modelers who integrated the Faller Car System into their layouts. Is there any other car system other than HO scale slot cars, that is similar to the Faller Car System? Are their any obsolete systems no longer being made? If adding traffic lights, stops (bus stops) etc you will need sensors and traffic light controllers connected to a PC module. The PC module can be connected to a DCC system if you have one via the RJ11 telephone plug Loconet serial bus network. You have two option; either the PC module if your DCC system is not connected to the PC and you want PC control, or the expansion module if you don’t need to control via PC.

I have purchased the Faller Car System but I have not installed it yet. I am going to be moving in the next few months and will be putting it on my next layout. I have not seen any other systems as I did a lot of research before purchasing the two trucks. I did pay about 75 Euros for each one so they are not cheap. Mine did come with the wire and power packs though. Expansion packs are available for stopping at crosswalks and such.

Hope this helps.

To my knowledge, the Faller Cars System is the only one of its kind, other than oversized slot car system.

Here is a little video telling you more about the Faller Car system

Gidday, the local modular group that I am very loosely associated have had a Faller Car system circuit incorporated into one module for at least four years and are looking fitting another circuit to another module.

It seems to be very reliable, at the last show the truck ran up and down its hill for three 8 hour days and 4 hours on the last day.

I have always found it somewhat ironical that the general public find the truck more interesting than the fine modelling and trains on the rest of the modular layout.

Cheers,the Bear.

Glad to see this topic as I’ve always been fascinated with the Faller System and would like to integrate it into my HO layout’s town scene (still working on it).

IMHO, Faller is not widely popular in the U.S and Canada due to the lack of North American vehicles offered. Yes, some of Faller’s European vehicles are commonly seen in the US such as the Audis and Volkswagen models. But to tap the North American customer base, Faller could consider vehicles such as: (Vintage and modern) Ford Mustangs, Chevy Impalas, pickup trucks from the “Big 3”, Kenworth and Peterbuilt tractor trailer trucks, panel vans, etc.

I would enjoy seeing an HO scale Fishbowl bus, a UPS truck, and a tractor trailer truck slowly running through my town. I wouldn’t want 20 or 30 vehicles running around in a rush hour scene, just a typical laid back summer day in a small 60s-70s era southeastern town.

As the European market of model railroading appears to be much larger than the US/Canadian market, it will certainly most unlikely, that Faller will invest into the tooling of US prototype cars and trucks.

I was looking through Faller products here:

http://www.micromacromundo.com/handle_url.asp?url=C%3A%2FInetpub%2Fmicromacromundo.com%2Ffaller-ho-car-system.asp

This particular listing includes the name of the vehicle model manufacturer - Herpa, Wiking, Busch and so on. It wouldn’t surprise me if they’ve arranged for relatively painless shell replacement with different models from the same company. Does anyone know?

I want this one lane crossing “image below” for my Faller Car System layout, however I want 2 lanes. Is there a two lane crossing that they sell?, or do I have to make one myself as described in a Faller car System manual that I read upon.

Faller Car System Crossing

Sounds and looks like you already have it, so you appear to know a lot about it. Should not your question be with Faller, or its distributors, for your answers?

Cheers, [D]

Many modellers and train clubs here in Europe create all their dream vehicles, not only in HO, but O as well, just as they build scenery or train cars. You can do it to once you see the system. For those who want RTR all they need do is contact Faller and if enough do this the cars and trucks will happen. At present, possibly not enough americans have made their interests known.
