What’s the best way to put people into passenger cars so that they stay put but are not permanent? Would rubber cement work?
I have a MTH N&W “J” passenger set with vista-dome car. When Pat saw it, the first thing she asked was “Where are the people?” Excellent question.
I guess MTH seated passengers would fit. Can anyone offer other alternatives or general suggestions? What about getting to the interior on the MTH cars?
I would use the sticky gum that Dept 56 sells. It doesn’t leave residue either.
Beep People?
Every MTH Passenger car I own includes instructions on how to remove the roof. Typically there are two screws, one on each end of the car. Turn the car upside down and move the coupler arm out of the way and you should see the screw. I would HIGHLY recommend reading the instructions beforehand to make sure you are removing the correct screw.
I have been collecting some of the MTH 12pc people pkgs for installation. The BEEP, Beople?, that were done by K-Line originally will fit in most cars but in my dining car I was required to amputate their legs but even in the coaches some just look sizewise a tad funky. For attachment I used clear silicone caulk, just a little dab on their butt and they will stay put without damaging either car or passenger.
The best non-permanent “hold” is Mini-Hold wax, made years ago for the dollhouse miniature hobby. It will hold up a Arttista “running man” figure by its one foot! I’ve found the craft store products to be much too thin.
Nope. They have a large alcoholic beverage budget… [:-^] They gettem drunk then they have them sign the release form, give 'em some more alcohol, knock 'em out, amputate the legs, and when they wake up they tell 'em ‘You signed the waver!’. [:D]
Another possibly for anchoring the “riders” is to use a product called “Dots”, obtainable from craft stores. These dots are sticky, non-marring, and can be removed easily if desired. They are available in several sizes.
I use silicone caulk, put a dollup un them and stick em down. I f you want to remove em pull up and clean off silicone. I too have to do the amputating of the legs, OLD MILWAUKEE really comes in handy here.
I have used both the “dots” suggested by Bill and hot glue. Both worked well. If you are doing a lot at a time the hot glue is faster in my opinion. Most of my figures are MTH (which are a little smaller than others) but also have used Beep People, K-line, Model Power and Little People by Golden Gate. I like my passenger cars to have lots of people! [:)] [tup]
