I have replaced most of the 36" curved track on my bedroom layout with 48" curve. Its all Lionel Fastrack. Problem now is they make switches for 36, 60, and 72 inch curves but not for 48 inch. Whats up with Lionel and why dont’ they make this switch? Odd thing about the 48 inch curves is there is an odd number of sections per quarter turn. To clarify, its 3 sections per 1/4 of a circle of 48 inch curved track. Odd, really odd.
Odd, really odd… like Super O? Or Odd, really odd like O-27(42) & O(42) tubular?
At some point, the track sections become unwieldy & expensive at an “each” price. Those 48s would be pretty big chunks of track if they were only 8 to a circle, then the track planning flexibility would suffer too.

12 sections of track to make a circle. Similar to what is offered in O-42 (either O or O-27 line).
Hopefully they eventually make switches for all the curves, as they do seem to be comitted to the system.
If you want to go for the really odd, look at how many pieces to make an O84 circle. It’s 32! Why they didn’t make the pieces larger and stick with 16 is beyond me and anybody else I have talked to.
Hopefully the switches all will just follow the standard practice for O and O27. No matter how many to a circle, you replace one section interchangeably with a switch and then have something standard like a 10" or 14" straight coming off.
Of course, the non-trivial methods needed to cut FasTrack make it slightly less convenient than tubular for these types of uses where the operator might want ot use custom lengths.
