Welcome back, swinstandley.

I have the 312 as well. Got it for Christmas way back when. For years, I had it in storage, but I revived it in 2010 with some serious repair work.

I also have an American Flyer Baldwin diesel, 355, a CNW VO-1000.
This one took some very serious restoration to replace broken parts as well as a new motor.
Rich
glade to see you got it back out , beautiful loco thank you for the picks Rich.
My favorites are the 119 and 60 at the Golden Spike National Park. That and the Southern Pacific 4449 in the Freedom Train Colors
welcome to the forum Nate119 and thanks for the post
Nate119. Welcome on board.

That’s a tough one! I prefer middle aged steam. Locomotives smaller than a USA Mikado (especially of the Nickel Plate variety) but bigger than most Atlantics. Here’s a Norfolk and Western class V-1 4-6-0 that’s a good example.
N&W G1’s also have a style I like:
As do their W2’s, both 2-8-0’s:
But there is one just a wee bit bigger that I have to give top honors to:
The original “Beauty and the Beast” loco, the N&W Y6b.
My favorites are the Milwaukee Road electrics…or the Great Northern boxcab electrics…or the New Haven boxcab electrics…
My favorite real locomotive has to be the SD70ACe-T4, but the SD90MAC-H2 always fascinated me as well. My favorite vintage toy train is my 1946 American Flyer 310 Pacific, which I completely rebuilt from a poorly running state. Since its a '46 it has Pennsylvania tender lettering instead of American Flyer with a PRR herald, which gives it some more charm. Lastly my favorite scale locomotive is my Bachmann HO Scale NCTD Charger (and matching Rapido BiLevels). I am a big fan of the Coaster here in San Diego and I really love seeing it get some attention.
This is grate thank you all for the picks , and all the responses.
Here is my favorite HO scale locomotive, a Bachmann Spectrum 2-6-6-2. It was only my second Ho scale loco purchase back in 2004. No sound, but I have been threatening for years to add a sound decoder.
My second favorite is what I call The Beast, a BLI 2-8-4 with sound. This monster has to be almost as heavy as the real one.

NICE! I like thank you Rich
mine is in the image, though I’m not sure what it is…
This is me in the mid-nineties, working on the Poppy Line in Norfolk, UK… We were a team of three - a driver called George, a fireman called Andy, and then me just doing whatever I was told (all the cleaning!).
My grandmother, in her eighties here, was lifted onto the footplate and we did the journey with her there - she was full of wonder. It was very special.
another image, possibly the same locomotive - proudly showing off my filthy, diesel-and-soot-coated hands
The North Norfolk Line (The Poppy Line) is still going strong.

they possibly even have the same locomotives then! I loved it, I spent two summers there, climbing over trains!
Yes. The memories of a time gone still live.

thank you CFox for sharing those memories, there are wonderful.
