Sounds like an arbitrary political act.

Or an attempt to head off another boondoggle like the Big Dig? Just saying, you know?
Criminal actions of contractors put the boon in the doggle.
Reading the documents, that conclusion is unlikely. Perhaps you were being facetious?
No, just cognizant of the fact that history does have a habit of repeating itself, especially in the big cities of the Northeast. Where I happen to come from.
For some reason, reminds me of the 1980s when Ann Gorsuch, the Reagan administration’s EPA head, blocked the Superfund clean-up money designated for Boston Harbor. Then in 1988 Mass. Gov. Dukakis ran for president, and his opponent (Reagan’s VP George HW Bush) blamed Dukakis for Boston Harbor being so polluted.
BTW Pres. Trump appointed her son to the Supreme Court.
I’m from Chicago area. Others are from NJ. Sure: corruption, influence peddling, pay to play, clout. But also lots of great projects. This project seems like it would benefit people not just corporations and the uber-rich.
From what I can see of the project, it’s Massachusetts roads and a Massachusetts commuter railroad, with the realignment and improvements wholly serving Boston-area residents or visitors. Should that require an extensive Federal grant?
I concur, though, that going straight to contractor incompetence and fraud isn’t a reason to terminate Federal funding. I would be far more concerned with Gateway and the prospective Penn Station scheme in those respects.
