I have my basic layout design plan that I thought I would publish on here for any feedback or suggestions. I used Atlas Right Track software to construct the plan, and tried to get it as close as possible considering I’m not using Atlas track.
This is HO scale, with all 24" curves.

The position of the track to the “storage” tracks wastes a lot of space. Use a right hand turnout rather than the left, move it back (to the left) to replace the curve that makes that track parallel. This will make more space on the “yard” track and allow the storage tracks to be longer.
Very few real places will have a mine that close to an urban area.
Having your plan as a link makes it harder to comment. Once we start typing, we can’t see it any more. Better to link to it and let us look while typing.
If your layout is against the wall you will have a reach problem on both corners.
