First picture posting of my project

Hello again. This post is for me to finally be able to post some pics. The first was one of my favorite projects that I did a while back (about a year ago). It’s a Rail Power GP-60M that I painted in the Maersk scheme. Time ago, I was browsing through the PPW-ALine website and saw the decals for this locomotive, they also had a completed model posted; needless to say, I instantly fell in love. Shortly after, I ran into a nice deal on ebay on an undecorated GP-60M shell/chassis, and had to persue the project. I know that athearn has released this model not long ago, but as many of you out there know, theres no describing the pride one gets from building and decorating a model from the ground up. The engine is your typical RPP shell, I added A-lines etched steps, grab irons, cabshades, smokey valley handrails, although I only used the stanchions and bent my own handrails from brass wire. I had also bought a details associates super detail kit for an ATSF GP-60M locomotive and added most of those details (snow plow, horn, antenna, and such). It has stock Athearn power trucks and motor and a constant intensity headlight unit (not DCC yet). I haven’t completed the model 100%, I still need to add the rest of the details from the super-detail kit and I need to modify the fuel tank on the frame, it needs to be shorter and I need to add fuel tank details (fillers, gauges, etc.). Still, I’m very happy with what I’ve done so far and I look forward to completing my project in the coming weeks. Thanks for looking and any comments are appreciated.

The GP-60M’s are one of my favorite modern day engines. You did a great job on that engine. You should be proud of that paint job. Thanks for shareing…

Thank you all for your great comments. Maersk is a shipping line for all those wonderful containers we see on todays intermodal cars. During a promotional video that was shot for the company, they repainted a Santa Fe GP-60M #146 in the Maersk scheme. This engine was used only for the video and then repainted back to the warbonnet scheme, to my understanding. Here are some other great pics of this engine (prototype) and other stuff.

Nice!

This is the subject I was going to bring up. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=407891

What’s that, an SD-40 or 45? I would like to model most if not all of the Maersk locos. Once I’m done with this engine I’m doing, I hope to do another 60M just like it and maybe a B unit just for fun. I know three locos aren’t prototypical, but that’s what is cool about model railroading, you can bend the rules a bit.
