Has anyone else had problems with Atlas flex track being really stiff when you first get it. I bought one piece from my LHS and it flexed really easily, bending with ease. I purchased two boxes for my layout and the track is very stiff and hard to bend. I checked to see if the ties are broken from eachother on the inner track and they are, I even verified it’s Atlas and not another brand. I’m not sure what the problem is but the inner rail doesnt want to move much at all. I have concrete ties by the way. Thanks in advance for your help!
You say that you have “concrete ties”, with Atlas Flex track?? Flex track comes with plastic ties. You say that the “inner rail” doesn’t move. Only one of the two rails move. Go to your LHS and ask “vas gifs”! Bob Hahn
When I say concrete ties I mean plastic ties that look like real world concrete ties. Only the inner rail is supposed to move alot. But overall its pretty stiff.
That’s really a new one. Atlas flex is the most flexable of any other. I don’t have any experience w/ the concrete tie version. Maybe those molded ties on the new runs are just tight. Will it aclually flex/ bend properly? Once bent will propably hold it’s shape. Don’t know what to tell you. Could ask Atlas.
The mainline in my layout is Atlas Code 83 concrete. I haven’t started laying yet, but I have acquired the track. So far I couldn’t tell a difference between the concrete and regular (using the regular on the sidings)… I’ll fiddle with it when I get home tomorrow.
I have HEARD that Micro Engineering’s flextrack is pretty stiff compared to Atlas. I’ve only used the Atlas “wooden tie” flextrack, but it’s always been pretty “wiggly”.
Micro Engineering’s flex track is designed to hold its shape once bent. The Atlas stuff isn’t. I’d call Atlas and see what they say.
